Re: New smilies!
Haha, there are a few (three, to be more specific) people I met online that actually made an impact in my life. I've spoken on the phone with two of them several times for some years now (one of them 5 years now) and we're still close I actually consider those three people as real friends. They even know my mom

I'll miss Mr. Green as well - it went perfectly with my avatar! As for which one is myself, I'm torn...midgetshrimp wrote:Though I will miss geek, uber geek, and mr green.

(Because I do enjoy being playfully cheesy.)
Or, I do ;) in these forums - a lot. Just to make sure I'm not being taken too seriously.

Re: New smilies!
I shall note totally on topic that the "whistling" smiley does not seem to work.

Re: New smilies!
I'd like to see the forum be more customised, but I know that it's a bit more involved because this isn't just the Ma3 forum, as such, based on the name above.
That said, I think a theme based on the current top page would be pretty cool.
Warning: de-rail ahead: While we're on the subject of customisation, and theming, I've been thinking about offering customised themes or full site integration for the search functions as WordOwl. From a user perspective, you'd never leave the comic, all of the searching and talking to WordOwl would be behind the scenes and not visible to the user. (Kind of like what Oh No Robot does with some comics but not just for the logo and colours. I'm talking about full customisable integration.)

Re: New smilies!
Well since Giz has to install the theme since it needs to be put into the route directory for the Forum, you'll have to get onto her about more customisations. I know right now though she's working on a new style, colour scheme and replacing the phpBB logo with a new one for Ma3.
And that sounds like a good idea of intergrating the Word Owl search within the comics as I know how people hate having to go to another webpage to search something on the webpage they're already within.

Re: New smilies!
That was the main point of spending 4 days solid programming to rewrite the interface... the software can handle that with little extra work now should this ever be wanted by any comic. The issue on the flip side is that the comic itself will require an XML-RPC interface to be built (or have provided), which means the comic's server needs to have a scripting language, and a competently written library available. (Now, I can write such a library but there are plenty of good ones out there already, so I'd probably reuse such a component.)Bear wrote:And that sounds like a good idea of intergrating the Word Owl search within the comics as I know how people hate having to go to another webpage to search something on the webpage they're already within.

Re: New smilies!
Customizing the colors was my favorite part of making my forum. For Ma3 all you really have to do is substitute the blues for reds and maroons. There isn't really any contrast in the banner colors.

Seeing that you are threatening to ban me for something as simple as approaching or sometimes exceeding your post count, I'm having more fun reading CCS right now.Bear wrote:Giz thought that people would like the new banner
