I disagree. She's...dammit, how to put this...her face isn't as mature as Amber's...I guess is the best way to put it.brasca wrote:She's cute either way, but she bears too much of a resemblance to her sister without the glasses.TJgalon wrote:I really do like her without the glasses

Re: 06-08-14 Can we snuggle
Fair enough, and I stand corrected. Though I would point out that Amber still thereby left Ruby to listen to Dillon's crying all night. Not that there would be much she could do about that, of course, but she'd score points if she remembered to at least say something sympathetic the next time she saw Ruby.TCampbell wrote:[Minor correction: what Amber said was "Dillon wants to be alone, but I hate listening to him cry in the next room." That was a direct result of this exchange, not something Amber pulled out of her ass just as an excuse to avoid him and/or sleep with Gary. Although I think it's safe to say that once she was well and truly absolved from friend-duties, she gave her unselfish side the night off. She wasn't expecting Dillon to turn around and start craving company again, and neither was he. (As Dillon's lapses in self-awareness go, I think that's a fairly minor one.)
I'd also say that Dillon's lapses of self-awareness are so frequent that his friends should take them for granted by now, and even assume the opposite of anything he says about himself... But I won't get into quibbling contests with the editor.

To be fair, I doubt if Amber ever seriously thought that Dillon would act this way with Ruby (especially shortly after he said "I think I need to be alone")--or that Ruby would put up with it if he did. At least Dillon had enough sense not to sleep in the nude tonight.Spidrift wrote:(Note that Amber thereby hosed Ruby. Thanks, big sister.)

Amber didn't want to listen to Dillon weeping in the next room. Ruby sleeps in the same room as Amber, so if Amber expected to hear Dillon's racket, Ruby was going to suffer the same.
Like I said, not much Amber could do about that in practice, but some sympathy later would be nice.

Congrats on volume one but I'm sorry to say that Ruby and Amber are the only reasons why I read this comic. Dillon just gets on my nerves much like how Yuki does. I just don't like Drama Queens that see their lives as a drama or a romance manga. In a way Dillon and Yuki are not so different but I won't go into the details.

That's pretty much exactly how my little sister feels about the show, actually.
Ruby does look very cute here but something about it is just a little off putting. Maybe I'm just too used to thinking of the glasses as part of her face. She swims with them on for crying out loud.
Still, this does make me curious about how she'll go about handling Dillon in the next volume/arc.

Re: 06-08-14 Can we snuggle
I find that hating Dillon would be far too much of a waste of energy, but I really do wish I could understand why anyone likes him, as a character.
Aside from the way that he's been increasingly depicted as a rather unpleasant human being, which removes the option to sympathise with him when he has setbacks, he's a screaming one-joke stereotype who has displayed no signs of actual character development or subtlety in six years of comics and eighteen months of a starring role. He has problems, sure, but they're his own fault, and he does nothing to deal with them. In other words, however loud and flamboyant he acts, he's really rather boring. Which really does just leave the fact that he's pretty...
The claim that his latest kick-the-dog moment (before the one in this strip) - the "27 straight guys" line - was necessary to show that he's not perfect has me especially puzzled, as I don't remember anybody on the boards saying that the Tao of Dillon was a cool philosophy. Reactions to him usually seem to divide between "he's cute and sweet and troubled" and "he's just a jerkass". Perhaps it's all those Dillon fans who apparently show up at the Pixietrix stand at conventions who need re-educating?
