Was there any special reason to color the gate clouds light blue?
Green and red were obvious choices for what they're used for, and that magenta for the ghost seems to fit so well... the blue just seems so non-threatening, but traveling that way always disagrees with Emma so much!

Blue is generally the colour associated with Namesakes and "namesaking". It's also why Alice's flashbacks are tinted in blue. So even though the portals hurt Emma, they still keep the blue tint.foxtail_j wrote:Was there any special reason to color the gate clouds light blue?

So what planted the seed of Namesake's concept?

Namesake started as a parody comic of the anime Slayers and Isa's close friends. She had ideas about developing it into an original story, and I kept poking at her to do it until she finally dragged me in with her.Blissfull Wulf wrote:So what planted the seed of Namesake's concept?

I love Slayers, though I fail to see the resemblance. Wait, PLEASE TELL ME that they're gonna visit the Slayers world!

Hahaha, my husband leaned over my shoulder and said that would be hilarious. Sadly, we can never do so because of copyright reasons -- however, there are a few Slayers homages in the comic. The biggest is Hercilia, who is influenced by Lina Inverse.
I really need to hunt through Isa's LJ, find the parody and link it up to the history part of the website at some point.

Hahahaha! We've actually done very little with TWC. That sort of voting site's always made me uncomfortable because how of it's rigged.

Are you guys by chance involved with the short "One Per Person"? I found their Kickstarter to get the movie rendered, and as I watched their promo video, I noticed some of the concept art and sketches looked rather like Nakesake style.

Yup! Isa did storyboarding and some publicity promos, and I helped consult with their Kickstarter campaign and handling other publicity tasks. Jac Piette, one of the co-directors, has been a friend of ours for a number of years.Quats wrote:Are you guys by chance involved with the short "One Per Person"? What's the criteria for a story getting a Namesake?
My personal theory is that it involves travel between worlds, the way Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of Oz all do. But who's to say that Snow White and Red Riding Hood aren't hanging out somewhere too?
