I see Eva lent Marie her swimsuit, and has completely poisoned her opinion towards Zoe. Also, great Batman entrance, Eva. Totally not off-putting.

Marie has a point. She just doesn't realize that Eva has her own manipulating motives in mind.

No, Marie has a wrong point. Zoé actually was teaching them to suceed on their own (as Sandra showed). Eva taught Marie how to ride her coattails and be a bitch to everyone.

Exactly. The only positive thing about Marie's success is that she didn't have to 'work her butt off' like Eloise did. Like how a lot of woman have been made to do.

Well, she did make it by being fucked. Just not the same way

Hopefully, the overconfident villainess will monologue her way into defeat. Marie hates Zoe, but if she finds out that she's been manipulated all along as a revenge scheme against her she could turn on Eva.

That's the thing, isn't it? This situation gets resolved when Marie discovers how she's been used, but how can the comic do that in less than a couple more volumes, without looking rushed? I mean, logically, Eva has maintained the deception for a year now; Sandra shouldn't be able to collapse it all that easily.

On the other hand, Marie appears to be running a howling case of cognitive dissonance; she thinks that Eva has made her situation wonderful, but that's the exact same situation which had her weeping on Sandra's shoulder just a couple of strips ago. So Sandra has a point of leverage.

Also - unusually internally referential strip title, for once.

The third panel tripped me up for a second; I that was Eloise before I remembered Marie used to be blonde.

I'm becoming increasingly certain that Marie dropped out of school. It would definitely be something that Eva would encourage.

A passable gag, but maybe not one to think about too hard. (If Marie had snagged a Vogue cover at this point in her career, it wouldn’t just be good going, it’d be a titanic success.)

Marie is, what, seventeen (or eighteen at most) at this point? Expect teenage histrionics and gullibility.

New prediction for the upcoming page(s): Eva will try and convince Sandra to join her, under the belief that she's a lesbian, given what Marie herself thinks. And when Sandra tells them otherwise, Marie may or may not have another big meltdown, given her last reaction towards learning a person wasn't gay was fully falling into Eva's clutches.
