It could be a wig, or hair extensions, or it could be that they're not using real-world hair growth speed (around 15 cm a year tops).

I think comic charactervhair grows faster than normal. Kill Six Billion Demons also just had a one year timeskip, and Allison went from a short bob to a two foot ponytail.

omg thats still running?! i used to love KSBD but when the author reset i lost time for it. is it worth getting backk into?

I assume you refer to the forum story. KSBD is a full fledged webcomic now, with print editions. going on volume 5
