Re: 2017-01-13 That day in the shower
Heres the deal: I don't care.
Is she half drunk making out with a sober chick while most probably cheating on her what I assume boyfriend? Yep. Do I really care about that part? No.
Pierre is not interesting nor characterized and in my mind is closer to a bang buddy. Her and Cammi have onscreen chemistry and this at the very least has a spark that went off opposed to the "wanna fuck" backroom hop on that Pierre is. As an MA3 reader of nearly a decade, the idea that drunkiness gets involved in the various situations is not something I pay much mind to.
How can I be such a monster, you ask? Because Sandra, Cammi, and Pierre are fictional characters. I get my broken ship kiss, you get your subsequent relationship drama. We all win in the game of shoving our paper dolls together in lewd positions

I dont think Sandra and Pierre would work out in the long run anyway. Even Sandra has said they were having trouble due to scheduling conflicts.
Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

Re: 2017-01-13 That day in the shower
I'm not sure that "scheduling conflicts" are a very good reason to crash a relationship that's working in all other respects (if it is). I've had too many scheduling conflicts that I've worked round because other things are much more important.
And while I'm not going to waste too much emotional energy on the tragedies of fictional comedy characters, I have an irrational tendency to feel sorry for an imaginary guy who gets created as an excuse for a lead character to stay where she's needed for the plot, and then hosed when the creators get bored of their own creation. It just feels a tiny bit "as flies to wanton boys are we to the gods", y'know...

How do YOU know that the creators are bored of their own creation? Please don't assume that we are doing what we are doing because we are just "bored" of those characters or whatever. Or rather, please don't presume you know what the creators are thinking.

Well either way, now that my MA3-verse OTP has finally kissed, I can now cross that off the checklist and shall now await the revelation of Cammi's eyes.

My apologies; I should have made it clear that the point was hypothetical. If Pierre was created merely to appear in a couple of dozen panels and then be arbitrarily dumped through no fault of his own, then that would feel faintly cruel - and the readers wishing for it to happen do seem slightly heartless to me. (At least this isn't the kind of soap opera that kills characters off when they become inconvenient. Those seem really psychopathic to me.) But I'm quite prepared to believe that there'll be a plot twist or two in a the next couple of strips - the scene actually looks very open to that. Maybe we'll even see shippers frothing in impotent rage. (That's a sadistic pleasure I do allow myself.)Eisu wrote:How do YOU know that the creators are bored of their own creation? I will say that Pierre has always seemed oddly undeveloped as a character - left offstage much of the time despite being our heroine's boyfriend, lover, and initial reason to stay in Paris, and not given much characterisation beyond "hunky and good at his job". I don't know whether that's because you don't know what to do with him, or because he's being held in reserve. I'll be happy to discover that it's the latter.

You have no idea how heartless I can be to fictional characters in pursuit of yuri shipping.

If it makes you feel any better, a lot of so-called shippers are like that. Particularly same sex couple shippers, likely out of a desire for recognition and representation, but the levels of irrationality and cruelty can be really...
Ugh.
In this case, however, I can somewhat agree to the point that Pierre, while nice, feels a little underdeveloped as a character for someone who has been a love interest since very early on and technically a boyfriend for a long while. So its hard to exactly go "OH NO THAT CRUEL BISH HURT PIERRE THAT POOR BOY!" We can go 'Huh, that happeneded'. Or 'Wow, but he was handsome and nice, Sandra, why you do that', but it's hard to exactly care.

More often than not people fail to see the entirety of the issue, and focus on a single facet of it. I would tell you that you are right or wrong, but I have never seen RWBY. The girls are pretty though!
Yuri shippers typically come with pre-crushed spirits since all our ships tend to die horrible deaths. Occupational hazard.

Re: 2017-01-13 That day in the shower
Well, tbh, we already know enough about Pierre (not that I'm opposed to him receiving character development). So far, we know he's a gentleman, he's attentive, and he's supportive of Sandra. Qualities which many (if not most) women would agree is good boyfriend material. I'd hardly say that makes him dull, or deserving to be two-timed.
A character doesn't necessarily have to be deep, or complex, to be considered "good". Ace isn't much different than Pierre and he's easily among my favorite characters in EC.
NOTE: My post isn't directed at anyone in particular, and is strictly in defense of Pierre's character being 'under developed'.

Re: 2017-01-13 That day in the shower
So in all honesty, Pierre as a person is a good guy as far as we can tell. Sandra is being dumb and drunk doing this, I don't really think you're going to get anybody reasonably telling you this is a great idea for her. If they were real people and this was real life, Sandra has found her man for now.
Yeah I like the Cammi ship, but more so I'm more a fan of where this potentially takes the story and characters. Sandra's relationship life hasn't been shaken in awhile, so now we get some coconuts falling - potentially on our heads. This is also good opportunity to add to Pierre, which at least I can say I'd be interested in learning more about

@True_Avery: I suppose that's fair. And Cammi also seems to be a decent sort.

This is the best kind of love triangle, imho. One where all the participants have good qualities, so you can't easily write one off as "the bad choice".
