I'd be really interested if anyone threw that argument at someone and got a good argument back. And I'm pretty sure there is a logical flaw in it somewhere, but no-one I know (me included) has found it yet, so if someone does find it, please do let me know.

That's a mighty good point, Arantor, and I know what you're talking about and agree with you. Partly. I just see things a bit differntly.

I don't believe God is a sentient, thinking creature capable of judging you or, even less, being insecure. I think God is energy, period. And its presence everywhere is because we're all, ultimately, made of energy. Every single thing in the universe (as far as I know, at least) is so. And such tests are not God trying to see if you're a good girl or not, it's just something you put on yourself. You and only you, whether you're trying to follow a diet or trying to understand a tiny bit better how this whole religion thing works, that's you in the end, not some guy with a white beard sitting comfortably somewhere in the sky.

But of course, people tend to be assholes and we turn this into TESTS OF FAITH and IF YOU DON'T DO THIS AND THIS GOD WILL PUNISH YOU and yadda yadda yadda. In my opinion, that's bullshit.

I try not to think too much of it, cause then I get into heated up debates and I loose my temper

Aranator, I agree entirely, although my argument is a tad more scientific. I tell them that I can disprove the existence of their entire belief system's logic with a creature smaller than their penis that died millions of years ago (It's called a graptolite and it proves evolution).

Okay, probably a good idea to knock off the religion talk since it could end up upsetting people. While everyone is entitled to their opinions and points of veiw regarding religion, it's probably best if we stopped talking about it since we are something of a multi-ethnic, multi-faith forum. So in the interest of community and co-operation, kill the religious stuff please.
