My theory: Lyta hasn't just created this orbital amusement park, or even a chain of parks, she has conquered the world, brainwashing everybody into worshipping her, but this time she has become a benevolent tyrant and allowed the population to keep their personalities and memories and to keep living their normal lives, except Lyta is now the only deity and all nations are at peace with each other (because they all bow to Lyta).

About J.C. and Lori being commanders of Earth's space warfleet? That's all Lyta's doing. She has turned all of the VC into her lieutenants and put them into positions of power. As a mattar of fact, all key post are probably in the hands of people Lyta likes, and immortal folk like vampires have an advantage there (Char, for example, would be promoted too, but she would eventually die, while the vampires would stay and Lyta would become more and more used to having them around).

Of course, once Katie, Suki and Leonard travel back in time to their temporal origin point, Katie will reassert her control over Lyta and nothing of this will happen, and this timeline will be just erased.

They replace the world "God" with "Lyta" in their speech. I think that means something.

You have to admit that managing a galactic fleet is a bit more prestigious and difficult than managing a cheerleading team.

If Katie goes back in time, reasserts control over Lyta and lives sixty or seventy years more, there is plenty of time for the timeline to diverge a lot. Maybe by the time Katie dies of old age humanity has already developed anti-demon psi-shields, or maybe Katie at some point gets fed with having Lyta always around and manages to banish her back to Hell.
