When were you happiest?
Yeh- about the happiness thing. Not to sound tragic or anything, but it kind of doesn't happen. Though the closest I think I've gotten to it was simply lying on the floor, laughing at a terrible joke over the phone for at least a full minute, and hearing the teller laugh just as hard and long as I am.

What is your greatest fear?
Losing people just when they mean most to me.

What is your earliest childhood memory?
Picking up a large rock and discovering that it was actually a stray tortoise when its legs came out from under its shell.

What living person do you most admire and why?
My mother. She's been through some really rough shit, and did it all for my brother and I.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Indecision.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Narrow-mindedness.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)?
An AUD$3000 tour around Moscow and St. Petersberg.

What is your most treasured possession?
My self. If I lost who I was, the person I am would never forgive me.

Where would you like to live?
Lots of places. But I have to be able to see the ocean.

What would your super power be?
Burning things or flight.

What makes you depressed?
My weight and skin conditions. And my dad. And the inability to solve my own problems. And strangely, I always slump even further than normal whenever I realise I have a crush on someone.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Godzilla.

What is your favourite book?
Tossing up between Imajica by Clive Barker or Watchmen.

What is your favourite smell?
Garlic. =p~

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
My weight, and all the rough thick scar tissue I have from my skin problems.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
A cracker with a thick layer of Nutella, topped with a slice of brie. You have no idea how delicious yet terrible for you it is.

What do you owe your parents?
I owe my mother my current life, my education and AUS$450. My dad owes me a fucking lot.

What does love feel like?
Fucking painful.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Dita Von Teese, Salvador Dali, H.R Giger, and the goddamned Batman.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
I fucking tend to fucking overuse the word 'fuck'.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?
My dad.

When did you last cry, and why?
Yesterday, because confusion sucks.

How do you relax?
Killing the living fuck out of things on an appropriately violent videogame, drawing, listening to ambient electronica.

How often do you have sex?
Haven't. Ever. Unless you count with myself, in which case it's at least once a day.

What's the closest you've come to death?
I visited my dad's dad in hospital when he was dying of prostate cancer. My visit was in the evening, and he died early the next morning.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Knowing who I am, and staying true to it.

What keeps you awake at night?
My overthinking brain.

What song would you like played at your funeral?
I've never thought about this one. Potentially Zombie by the Cranberries, because it was the first song I ever liked.

Where would you like to be right now?
Under the sea.... under the sea... *hums*
Resplendent King of Lizards and Darkness
Resident Firestarter, Wielder of the Falcon Punch
SKULLS SKULLS SKULLS

Farthingale edition. This thing is like the confession thread, only forumite-by-one doozies. Hugs and lubs all around, people. :\ / :) / :(

When were you happiest?

When I last stood back and counted the good things in my life, how much I've managed to grow up and move beyond my parents. When I think about the certain people that mean so much to me that it's a sort of aching spasm. And when I think about the fact that they, too all appearances, feel the same.

What is your greatest fear?

It exhibits itself in many ways frequently. And that fear is the seething frustration of helplessness. If my life or the lives of my loved ones turns sour, even in little ways, I feel devastated when I find I cannot control that course.

What is your earliest childhood memory?

Well since it's childhood, and I have quite a few, it's hard to know exactly which came first. My brain isn't THAT good. But I remember playing 'Rhinocerous escaping from evil poachers' in nursery school, while singing "Don't Kill The World" (badly, I'm sure). I was the rhino, and it was exhilerating and terrifying running away from the 'poachers', leaping through or over jungle gyms, swings, etc. It was a very Green time when I was little.

Which living person do you most admire and why?

This is oddly difficult to answer. Many people out there impress me, but then again, I realise that everyone has a burden to bear, and many many many people have immense burdens to bear. Does that mean that bearing those burdens is what is expected and is not superhuman but infact mundane? If so, then I either admire everyone or no one. Or else, one must admire those who, despite their own burdensome concerns, take the time and effort to help others. I can think of a person or two here, in that vein.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Lack of discipline.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

The same.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)?

My airbrush kit. It came with paints and all the necessary accoutrements. Including the air compressor. Nice. About R3000.

What is your most treasured possession?

I shall take this definition of possession to be that which is tangible and ownable. At least in modern Western terms. As such, my most treasured possession would be my wedding ring.

Where would you like to live?

Back on the coast of SA in Simon's Town. Where I spent my university years living. Only this time, without my parents.

What would your super power be?

Super strength. Physical. Like Rogue from the X-Men comics. I'd like to fly like her too, but I think it's cheating to say two.

What makes you depressed?

Well lack of control over things for one. Finances. Young people allergic to ambition. Alcoholism. ( Not taking my Lamictin. ;) )

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

I don't know any celebs who look like me! :(

What is your favourite book?

I do not have one. Books cannot be measured by such a broad definition. Now ask me what my favourite scifi is, or favourite mystery, or favourite adventure, or speculative feminist diatribe. Fine. But not book. That could be a bloody cookbook. I'll throw out some I've felt strongly about over the years: Watership Down (Richard Adams), The Hicthhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), The Female Man (Joanna Russ), Stranger in a Strange Land (Robert A. Heinlein), The Man Who Fell To Earth (Walter Tevis), The Silver Metal Lover (Tanith Lee), Grass (Sherri. S. Tepper), The Animals of Farthing Wood (Colin Dann), The Vampire Lestat (Anne Rice). Surely there are more. These covered many years from childhood onwards.

What is your favourite smell?

Vanilla.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

My incurably stressed-out skin.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I don't carry around much guilt with my pleasures. I guess on a very literal level, maybe violent hentai?

What do you owe your parents?

Well on the two semantic levels: my tuition. And quite a bit of neurosis.

What does love feel like?

Like you're home.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

David Bowie and Iman. Stepheb Fry. Phill Jupitus. Eddie Izzard. My high school English teacher Miki Lawrence.
The conversation would ROCK!

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Whatevs. And "Pshhht!": a derisive but humour-filled sound.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?

Not a thing. It makes us who we are. Even the shockingly horrible, terrible things.

When did you last cry, and why?

Errrrmmmm... last weekend, I think? Can't recall off-hand. I was pretty mentally wasted from over-work and lack of sleep.

How do you relax?

Internet, drawing or gaming. These days, also bathing.

How often do you have sex?

It's so totally irregular. It's irregular like a pre-menopausal woman's period!
I'd say between once a week and once every three weeks. But sometimes more.

What's the closest you've come to death?

I don't see things as close to death. Really. So long as someone is alive, they are not close to death. That's just how I see things. Death is death, and it isn't partial or gradable.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

This is rather difficult. I'm thinking it's got to be a personal thing, because I haven't really achieved much that is tangible. So in that case, I suppose being open about many contentious aspects of my personality and mindset, and being sure to not waver on my convictions vis a vis same.

What keeps you awake at night?

The mis-use of the apostrophe.
No, but honestly? Usually the urge to get up and continue doing whatever I was previously busy doing.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

I don't want a bloody funeral! But if someone went ahead and made on for me, it would have to be something either by David Bowie or Kate Bush. Or both. Or maybe Annie Lennox.

Where would you like to be right now?

Here is just fine.

Not bothering to answer the questions I have no answer to...

what is your earliest childhood memory?

I was a wee thing, and I'd had an accident, which damaged my front two upper teeth - I don't know if they'd sprouted yet, or not, but they (or the tooth-to-bes) had to be removed. I remember being in the hospital and not knowing where my parents were. (I've that process at least twice, for different head injuries. Yes, I have had quite a few. Yes, this probably explains some things.)

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I'm a wembler. (Look it up. >_> <_<)

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Hypocrisy. Bullying.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)?

My old computer (several thousand dollars, paid over the course of 2 years - by the time it was paid for, it was completely obsolete.)

What is your most treasured possession?

Spork Kitty. (A stuffed kitty...who now lacks her spork...given to me by a friend, years ago.)

Where would you like to live?

Just about anywhere, but where I am now. Northern Japan would be awesome, though.

what would your super power be?

This can be taken multiple ways, but the two main ones give the same general answer.

'If I had my druthers' AND 'If something about myself was extrapolated into a superpower' - I'd be a shapeshifter. I'm...somewhat mercurial, my identity shifting for myself fairly regularly - though the core Neko remains the same, major details change.

what makes you depressed?

My LIFE.

what is your favourite book?

Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass.

what is your favourite smell?

Strawberries. Or bacon. Depending on my mood.

what do you most dislike about your appearance?

That...changes. I'm never entirely happy with it, but which aspect pisses me off most, changes with how I idealize myself. (See the superpower question)

what is your guiltiest pleasure?

I don't believe in guilty pleasures.

what do you owe your parents?

Everything.

what does love feel like?

Once it's settled in past the elated infatuation stage, it's pretty much impossible to describe, save for the pain when it's lost.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

'Dude'. In all it's permutations. 'Hey, dude.' 'Dude!' 'Duuuuuuuuuuude.' 'Oh, DUDE!'

if you could edit your past, what would you change?

Ugh. I'd excise my year in fourth grade, to eliminate the bad habits the bitch of a teacher I had instilled.

how do you relax?

Games. Video games. RPGs. Card games. Games.

how often do you have sex?

... It's been 4 years.

what's the closest you've come to death?

I have received multiple major blows to the head - at least two of which required surgery (one of which I still have a scar from), another of which left me unconscious for 12 hours - fell out of a van moving at highway speeds as a kid, may have had a heart attack at 15 (or...maybe not...they never did come up with a satisfactory conclusion as to what the hell had happened), and about 2 years ago, had a lung infection which rendered me almost entirely incapable of breathing one day.

It's really hard to tell which of those was the closest brush with death.

what song would you like played at your funeral?

That's really up to my survivors - the funeral'd be for them, not me. Though if I happen to off myself (not likely), I suspect they might choose I Never Dreamed by the brilliant green.
I swear I will, I'll make you smile.

Original fiction by Neko: Heroes of Angel City (now in convenient (and edited) ebook form!). Kuchisake.

when were you happiest?

I had just been to an extremely depressing job interview where I received false compliments so that the company could scam me out of money in return for looking for work for me. I was walking back to the bus station to go back to Fireboys house (I was homeless for the second time in my life and staying with him until I could get back on my feet) and I saw Juan Mann. He had his free hugs sign and he looked like an appoachable chap so I went over and hugged him. I enjoyed the hug so much that I ended up staying in Pitt Street mall for 5 hours straight hugging strangers and hearing snippets of bad days made better by the kindness of strangers. That memory will always stay with me, and I am terribly angry at myself for losing the sign that Juan gave me.

what is your geratest fear?

I don't think I have one really. Possibly the incredibly selfish fear of being misunderstood. It makes me extremely anxious when I think that people think poorly of me when I have done my best in a bad situation. I suppose I also fear myself. I have an inkling of what I am capable of and it can either be incredibly good or incredibly bad, or a complete waste of time. I've consciously chosen to head towards good wherever I think I have a choice, but I always give a little lingering look down the bad path and I see how much easier it would be for me if i went there.

what is your earliest childhood memory?

I have a memory of sitting in a car seat in the back of my mothers car and having her look over her shoulder on her way to work, noticing I was there and saying "Shit, I forgot to drop Alycia off at preschool!"

what living person do you most admire and why?

I don't know. I don't know if I have the capacity to admire the works of others. I think, like farthingale, that we all do the best we can with the lot we're given, and that any attempt at measuring these things empirically is both redundant and insulting. To admire a rich, famous someone for incredible good deeds is to devalue the amount of energy it takes a chronically depressed nobody to get out of bed. Both are equally worthy of admiration in my books.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

My selfishness. I don't tend to see it until too late, but I can be an incredibly selfish person if I am not paying attention.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Failure to ask "why?" and "why not?".

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)?

When I was 16/17 I saved up AU$3,500 and I bought myself a computer with it. Although my education has cost me more money, I haven't actually paid for it yet, so when the bill comes in, I'll count that instead.

What is your most treasured possession?

I own a lot of things, but I don't really treasure any of them. I'm not a particularly sentimental person, although I used to try so hard to attach meaning to objects, I found it difficult and always assumed it meant I was emotionally stunted and cold-hearted.

Where would you like to live?

I don't care about the location, as long as I am among friends.

what would your super power be?

Like Neko, I would be a shapeshifter. I have never felt entirely comfortable in my own skin, and I have never really been able to reconcile who I am with who I see in the mirror. I wish my body could reflect who I am at any given moment. I don't want it to be beautiful, just true.

what makes you depressed?

My limitations. The fact that i can see the barriers to my happiness so clearly and understand them so well, but I am unable to take the small step over that incredible and gaping void in order to make the changes to my interactions that I need to in order to solve the problems forever.

who would play you in the movie of your life?

I would need to be animated, i think. I doubt that a female actor could do me justice, and I find it unlikely that my life will be a romantic comedy or a farce in order to facilitate the cross dressing required for an adequate portrayal by a male actor. hence, I think I would be better off animated. I would be voiced my someone fun.

what is your favourite book?

I don't really have one. I have books I enjoyed reading, and books that have changed me and the way I think. Both of these things are found in only the rarest gems of books.

what is your favourite smell?

The smell of food when I am hungry. The smell of sex on my partner after we are both sated and lying in each others arms. The smell of a woodfired oven. The smell of the beach from far away. The smell of freshly cut timber. The smell of clean me after a shower or bath. The smell of clean linen freshly brought in from a sunny day. The smell of clean water running in a stream.

what do you most dislike about your appearance?

Gods. Where do i start? I dislike my skin, since it breaks out in pimples whenever i am happiest. I dislike my hormones for fucking with my brain every month. I dislike the area under my chin where I have little neck. I dislike my tummy since it will never ever be flat. Anything else I dislike will probably just make me depressed, so i will stop with that.

what is your guiltiest pleasure?

Making fun of people who annoy me through no fault of their own; Comparing stupid people to Wendy and finding out that Wendy is still the most assinine creature I have ever dealt with.

what do you owe your parents?

I owe my mother for saving my life when I was 4, and for keeping me when she didn't want to, and for doing her best when she had no idea what to do and didn't have anyone to turn to. I owe her half of my intelligence and for the shape of my chin.

I owe my father for for the things I know about his life that have made me want to be better than him. I owe him for creating the one situation I have ever been in that proves that my mother loves me. I owe him for the shape of my hips, the colour of my eyes and for the sound of my voice. I owe him for my flighty and compulsive personality and for the other half of my intelligence.

what does love feel like?

Love feels like being lost and found at the same time.

who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

All the people i love and cherish.

which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Your mum's a [insert object, concept or name here]; How are you?; Is there anything you want?

if you could edit your past, what would you change?

I would use the understanding I have now to make the good decisions about the people I choose to spend time with earlier than I did.

when did you last cry, and why?

I cried at Washington DC Airport at 3 in the morning when I found out my plane had been cancelled and I thought about hearing the disappointment in Ugo's voice when I would have to call him and tell him.

how do you relax?

I read a book, play a game, snuggle with someone I care about, go for a walk, sleep or talk to a friend.

how often do you have sex?

It varies depending on who I am with and the sexual dynamic between us. In Australia it varies between 2 or 3 times a week and once a month. Here it's at least twice a day if we have the privacy, but we are intimate every second we are together.

what's the closest you've come to death?

When my mother found out she was pregnant with me, she was going to have an abortion. A couple of days before her appointment, her good friend, Lillian died, and she decided that she was going to keep me and teach me to be as good a person as the one she lost.

When my father found out my mother was pregnant with me, he repeatedly punched her in the stomach in the hopes of forcing a miscarriage.

When my father met me for the first time when I was 4, he went a little nuts and came back that night to kill me. He didn't know where I was, and my mother underwent torture at his hands and still refused to tell him.

what do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being a pretty good person in the scheme of things.

what keeps you awake at night?

worry about the future and the things I have to do in it.

what song would you like played at your funeral?

Boo to funerals.

where would you like to be right now?

Among the people I love and cherish. I have one of them here, but I wouldn't mind having the rest of them as well. :) (that means most of you guys, too)
Tentacoo-Goddess of the Bubblibaff, Gazer of the Southern Heavens and Mistress of Morals. She/Them. Judging you.

What is your earliest childhood memory?
I very vaguely remember when I was little and had a speech class and the teacher for it and I played some board game. Either that or when I was at my dad's work, walked right into a table and broke my nose. I'm not sure which was earlier.

when were you happiest?
Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef gave me a massive high which still hasn't quite faded away. Also the first time I actually went on adult rides at a themepark, there was one that actually spun you so hard you could hang upside down and be held in your seat by the G-force. I loved both of those experiences, but... the snorkeling made my muscles so sore I couldn't move for like 8 hours afterwards, and the ride made me feel nauseous all day! So annoying...

what is your greatest fear?
Losing things. I hate to lose or misplace anything. It's stupid and materialistic, but I love my stuff!

what is your earliest childhood memory?
Well, I found out the other day that my memory of catching fish in a little pink bucket while my mom was off opening the car that she'd locked the keys inside of at the end of a logging road happened when I was like- 2. So that, I guess.

what living person do you most admire and why?
Jon Stewart- the Daily Show is kind of a haven for humanist political commentary, so I've always admired the platform he works off of, but the man himself is smart, well-spoken, doesn't take bullshit, and is intimidating as hell.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I have really low energy levels, and I'm kinda paranoid. I can never bring myself to exercise or go out as often as I like just because the couch seems more comfortable and a whole lot safer.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
I hate people who assume the worst of others. Especially if they think that they're a better person because of it.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)?
My laptop. Or- actually- plane tickets to Australia.

What is your most treasured possession?
My laptop. Not because it's expensive, though.

Where would you like to live?
Vancouver's pretty great. If I couldn't live here I'd want to live in Boston (where I have friends) or Melbourne (which is awesome and where I also have friends).

what would your super power be?
Uff- I'm attracted to the typical ones. The speaking-every-language power would be awesome. But flying would be great too. Not very practical, realistically...

what makes you depressed?
When I know that I should be doing something for my own good, but I have no motivation to do it, so I don't do it and then feel bad about it.

who would play you in the movie of your life?
No idea, people always tell me they've never met anybody like me- even in looks. Frankly I don't like being so unique.

what is your favourite book?
Probably the His Dark Materials Series by Philip Pullman- in particular The Amber Spyglass.

what is your favourite smell?
When I was a kid I really liked the smell of pot because all of my parents' friends' houses (particularly their greenhouses) smelled of it. It's still a very nostalgic smell for me, to be honest. I don't do it myself, but it reminds me of good times.

what do you most dislike about your appearance?
Those last 20 pounds I can't seem to lose- and it all seems to go to my legs.

what is your guiltiest pleasure?
Watching embarrassingly bad TV shows and movies. Battlefield Earth and Showgirls (which must be watched with commentary at least once) are a couple of my favourite movies.

what do you owe your parents?
Nothing I don't owe any other human being- which means respect, for the most part. They chose to give birth to me, so they owe me, not the other way around.

what does love feel like?
I don't know.

who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Probably just my close friends- maybe my online friends, too.

which words or phrases do you most overuse?
I have an unhealthy addiction to "XD" as an emoticon. I also use too many commas in my sentences.

if you could edit your past, what would you change?
Nothing- I haven't made any mistakes so major I shouldn't be learning to let them go rather than making them never happen.

when did you last cry, and why?
Yesterday- there was family drama which was not my own, so I don't care to elaborate.

how do you relax?
Chatting on MSN, sometimes playing video games, usually watching TV whilst doing one of the first two options.

how often do you have sex?
Never, yet.

what's the closest you've come to death?
I got a cramp while swimming. I struggled for a long time (2, 3 minutes?) before finally going underwater in a public pool, after screaming at the lifeguard to help me. My best friend had time to swim back to the shallows and bring me back a kickboard before the lifeguard even reacted. When they did react, it was to yell at my friend for helping me instead of letting the lifeguard handle it. I never went back to that pool.

what do you consider your greatest achievement?
I've travelled overseas on my own twice now- that gives me more bragging rights than anything else I've done.

what keeps you awake at night?
Random creative storylines taking place in my head.

what song would you like played at your funeral?
I'm not sure, I don't really listen to music.

where would you like to be right now?
England, the East Coast of the US, or Australia, please.

when were you happiest? I'm at my happiest when I'm able to unexpectedly help someone in a way that truly makes a difference, while not needing a single reward in return.
what is your geratest fear? Being alone for the rest of my life.
what is your earliest childhood memory? I can actually remember several events as far back as when I was 2... but my clearest and most defined memory was going to Walt Disney World in Orlando with my family.
what living person do you most admire and why? Okay, this sounds corny... but currently, this person is Alison from here on the forums. She's had such a turbulent life, and yet she's so warm, caring, and loving to so many people despite it all. Or maybe, because of it all. All I know is that I am constantly striving to become a better person because of the example she sets.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I have it within me to commit truly frightening violence. I don't explore it, but I recognize it's there.
What is the trait you most deplore in others? Selfishness.
What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought (not including a property)? I once owned a nice, lightweight Mitsubishi pickup truck. It wasn't so nice after a car accident that totalled it, and even though I managed to get it running again for a couple of years, it eventually died. It was the beginning of many car troubles in my life.
What is your most treasured possession? An out of print book, a wonderfully illustrated collection of fairy tales that I owned as a child.
Where would you like to live? Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. A little suburb just Southwest of Philadelphia.
what would your super power be? I would like ESP. To know things beyond what I experience with my five senses, giving me a glimpse into an even broader understanding of people and even or world than I perhaps would otherwise.
what makes you depressed? A lot of things - I'm prone towards it.
who would play you in the movie of your life? Jason Behr. (The guy who starred in "Roswell" as Max. He has huge ears, too! *LOL*)
what is your favourite book? 'Dreams Underfoot' by Charles DeLint.
what is your favourite smell? Autumn in the woods.
what do you most dislike about your appearance? Honestly? Most everything. I'm not happy with how I look.
what is your guiltiest pleasure? Super sugary churros from 'Tijuana Flats'.
what do you owe your parents? I owe my mother more than I could ever repay, but I do my best by being a good son who doesn't burden her like her other sons continue to do. I owe my father silence from the many harsh things I've always wanted to accuse him of.
what does love feel like? It's like flying without any way you can see - it's wonderfully freeing and exhilarating, but at the same time it's terrifying because you're not sure why you're flying or if whatever means will just as suddenly stop and you'll fall without a means to catch yourself.
who would you invite to your dream dinner party? My mother, my brother Sean & Billy, my sister Courtney, my step-sister Nicole, her son Tommy, and my grandparents - all of them, as both grandfathers and one grandmother has passed away. A dream dinner party for me is about family.
which words or phrases do you most overuse? I've recently found myself calling a greater and greater percentage of people "Dick!" than I ever did before...
if you could edit your past, what would you change? The girl that got away when I was only 14? I wouldn't have been so shy and I would have called her.
when did you last cry, and why? It was December of 2005, because my wife left me.
how do you relax? I read, or I cook.
how often do you have sex? Pretty infrequently, considering I've been single for the last four years.
what's the closest you've come to death? I was very, very depressed about my wife leaving me.
what do you consider your greatest achievement? Giving my cat, Saskia, a happy life. :)
what keeps you awake at night? Insomnia. I can't shut off my brain from thinking.
what song would you like played at your funeral? Claire de Lune by Debussey, as adapted for a solo piano.
where would you like to be right now? In someone's arms
