I like persons. People fill me with disgust, frustration, and rage. So. Much. Rage.

It took me fifteen years to realize that one of my favorite TV shows stars two black men.

Red Dwarf. Craig Charles and Danny John-Jules are both Black. I didn't even really notice until I did a story about Season XI going into production.

Re: Confessions
Could it be because the show is British, and the Brits don't seem to have the hangups about black people that American have?

I'm really bad about noticing that kind of thing as significant unless it's a show that purposely plays up black stereotypes. Keenan and Kel, was one such show that plays it up quite a bit.

Re: Confessions
I am now 28 years old and I have been of legal drinking age for 10 years. I have always disdained alcohol, in part because of the rampant violence and unpleasant behaviour associated with the excess consumption of alcohol, but also because it tastes like armpits.
After some small experimentation I have determined that when my inhibitions are lowered I am happy, cheerful and sardonic. In the last couple of months I've worked out that I'm able to drink cider without making this face. And then, in the last week I have found that I am actually quite fond of Dirty Granny Cider and, as such, will be asking the boyfriend to bring home some cider on his way home from work.
I am a non-drinker no longer. And I feel that my sense of identity has not suffered for it one bit.
(Note, though, that I am grateful for my staunchly determined and hard-nosed sense of conviction that meant that it was when I was comfortable and when I had identified the risks and the consequences to my own satisfaction that I tried new things. I did not give in when my peers bullied or taunted me, I tried new things because I wanted to and I was ready. One thing I have always been proud of is my sense of self-determination. I have never let other people make choices about my identity and I suspect I never will.)

Re: Confessions
I don't drink.
Well, part of that has to do with the fact that I don't like what comes up when I do drink, but beyond that, I really don't like what can come up when I drink
I'm allergic to so many things that most alcohol is out of the question.

Re: Confessions
I hear ya, Asaryu...
I was leary of drinking because both my uncle on my mom's side and my real father at one point in their lives were raging alcoholics. I didn't want to follow in their tracks.
Eventually, I realized that I am my own person and that I didn't have to make the same choices they made and learned that I can drink, have fun, and still be responsible without going to excess.

Re: Confessions
A little bit of branching out is usually a good thing ^.^ I don't mind Angry Orchard Hard Cider, but I have had some ciders that are pretty awful. I still get a lot of flack for not drinking beer because I think it tastes like piss, but I'm happy with my controlled measures of Captain and Coke.

Re: Confessions
For a very long time the only alcoholic drink i liked was champagne, however in recent years i've begun branching out to liking dry white wines aswell. I still don't drink much though and i've never had enough to become tipsy or drunk.
I'm pretty happy just sticking to tea as my main drink.
