Rudy evidently now lives in the back of Ruby’s head without really compromising her straight-female identity.
just personally took it as kind of a comical reflection of my own life
grew up nerdy, comic superheroines were my big thing
except they all wore skimpy clothes, so I was chastised at a young age as a sexualized boy for liking them too much
when the biggest impact was actually an escapsist desire to be them
was also kind of homophobic through to the end of my high school years
but working with mental health professionals suggests that was tied to sexual abuse at a young age and a fear/disdain for phalluses
personally identify as a lesbian so Julian really doesn't do it for me
but it would be an interesting outlet if the obsession with comics was a similiar gender-based escapism
also makes the sister stealing comics hurt that much more
