The Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt OP is really nothing special, the ED however...

I always loved the jaunty tip of the halo at the end of PSG's credit sequence. You can tell that the show was designed consciously with merchandising opportunities in mind, though - the happy, bobbing heads are pretty much Nedondroid prototypes!

Gainax's plan worked, too - I have the OST CD on the desk beside me now!

As opening, i would pick either the op of Samurai Champloo ("Battle cry") or the one of Eden of the East ("Falling down" duran duran). As ending, Wolf's rain one ("Gravity") or Ken Shiro's 2°season ( i think it's called simply "Love song"). I'm taking in consideration only the musical, not aesthetic, aspect.

Current fave is the end to Genesis Climber Mospeada- "Blue Rain". Really catchy blues song.

Hakumei Hizoku wrote:I always thought that RahXephon and Cowboy Bebpop had perfect opening that matched the anime well and the animation used matched. You can till they took their time with picking the right music.
Hemisphere is a song that's replayed a LOT on my iPod. It's perfect.

Yakosu wa Irenai fit the mood for Escaflowne fairly well.

...Actually almost all the music for Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop is awesome.

It's pretty safe to say that if Yoko Kanno had anything to do with it, it's gonna be awesome

IMO, the best anime opening ever is ROD the TV. (Unfortunately, that's the OP to the later episodes, not the much more awesome one from the early episodes that didn't have the Read or Die characters (except Nenene and the VERY brief shot of Joker)...course I consider the part where the Read or Die based plot took over to be when the series dropped from Awesomemazing to merely good...)

Other great ones. Simoun.

Ichigo Mashimaro/Strawberry Marshmallow.

Powerpuff Girls Z second OP. (It should be noted...pretty much none of that stuff ever, ever happens in the show.)

For endings...nothing will ever top Lucky Star's 'girls doing karaoke' endings - particularly Konata's attempt at Monkey Magic.
