[AHoriginal] - Aoi House: Original or Remix?
The March 23, 2005 episode of Aoi House (ep. 26 - "Feed Up") comes with an interesting installment of Aoi Notes that deals with a number of interesting Aoi House ideas that are being batted around. One of them involves an options for when it comes time for Aoi House to be published.
So, please, check out the Aoi Notes for 03-23-05 and then drop us a message here and let us know what you think.
Everyone involved would really like to get your opinion on this "remix" idea.

I think u should keep the original as the Webmanga and the Remix as a Manga. It will make people be more interested in buying and reading it WHEN it comes out in stores.

Yes, that was the pretty much the general concept we came up with. A remix with added stuff for print and keep the webmanga going concurrently.
Obviously, we still don't have a date for when Aoi House would go to print. So that's why we're looking at all the options. That last thing we want to do is confuse or alienate anyone.

Well, there are some limitations to what you can do in a webmanga in terms of storytelling. You have to be very concise with each script, but it also means you can't show everything.
You'll notice that chapter 1 and 2 take place over the course of three days. That won't always be the case as the story progresses and some events will get skipped over in favor of hitting the bigger stuff. So, yes, I have a pretty good idea what I'd like to cover.

I am wondering how the layout might change? You mentioned the pacing would naturally change since you can show more of what happens in those three days which are kind of crammed together for the sake of the limitations the webmanga places on you.
Would the general layout change any for the manga (or Remix I guess it is being called for now) the size of panels or number of panels and such?

It gives one a great sense of satisfaction to do it in perfect unison. Michelle Cheung

Yes, the general layout might shift from the current approach to a freer manga style one. It's hard to describe the current wemanga's style, but it's sort of like the 9-panel pages that Ken Akamatsu uses mixed with the traditional webmanga episodic "events."Would the general layout change any for the manga (or Remix I guess it is being called for now) the size of panels or number of panels and such?
Like I've said before, we're a long way from going to print and remix or not...everything depends on how well the current Aoi House webmanga does and all the love shown to the print versions of the other Seven Seas titles. ^_^

Haven't really thought that far ahead. ;-)starlightgenie wrote:will the story change in the remix version of aoi house, or will it still be the same story but just a little different?
My guess is the basic story would be there, but there would be more connecting bits. For instance, week 4's "Yaoi for Food" arc would be longer. The panty arc might just stay the same, but the art would be redrawn and it would be expanded.
Personally, the series opens exactly how I want it to. If you compare the Tenchi OVAs to the Tenchi TV series, the OVA always wins. You can't really mess with it. Aoi House's story is a lot like that. You can't mess around with what people expect, but you can fix things. It'd be a special edition like with Star Wars, but it'd actually be meaninful. <g>
If we did a remix, would you like to see the original webmanga episodes included in the volume as well?
