Jason Mewes went through a lot of stuff in his life and his Jay character pretty much reflects all the rehab and rear jail time that he had to go through. He REALLY messed himself up big time. But seeing as how Clerks 2 was meant to be one of those "on the cusp of your life changing" movies... I think the new Jay fit. After all, Clerks 2 was really the epilogue to the whole Jersey trilogy.
