Why would professor Twiggit be worried about the extinction of human life?
Because the worst case for this is the orb goes nuclear and turns all humanoid males into females without an equal change among the originally female population, thereby ensuring no new population. Of course this is not counting sperm banks and cloning of course.

(Sorry I had a :-B moment)

No, no, the question was why was Miss Twigitt worried about the extinction of human life. Because this orb would presumably change all species to females without equal distribution of genome diversity...

This does rais the question of the orb, so far it has turn everyone into blond bimbos but one has to wonder with it so out of wack would it turn ALL LIFE into humanoids blond bimbos (from SPACE!)

Incidently women can give birth without a male doner, it's rare and the offspring is essentiall their twin with 100% of their genetics but it is possible i imagine in a World of the Blonds scnario nature would increase the odds of this.

Well she hasn't seen any evidence that the orb affects subjects who aren't people so that would be the first threat that would occur to her. While we know Melissa used it on her cat, its current setting may actually omit animal life because it doesn't seem to change species, just gender and some cosmetic features. Then of course there's the issue of whether Professor Twigget considers the various members of the school to be "human" or just figures that short-lived fast-breeding humanity are most at risk, while the long lived, perhaps immortal beings will continue on and perhaps outlive this crisis.

Can you spot what is wrong with this statement?

Do you? Were talking about nature intervening in a fiticious worse case scnario. The fact is even without nature there are sperm banks and the above mentioned rare scnario and i doubt the orb will exists perpetually to effects all future genenrations

Um, two things... one... without resorting to JeS-uS. Do tell of these highly elusive phenomenon of natural cloning within the human race. Two, barring the off chance that you can actual come up with a, well, documented event of so called virgin birth (regardless of actual virginity) I have to say, the chances of true empty headed, Valley girl blonds being smart enough to figure out cloning are so slim that even a mathematician would describe it as approaching infinite unlikely hood.

Getting the picture?

I'm not talking about Emanual i'm talking about a rare genetic fluke. And Again ins a worse case scenerio don't you think Nature might tip the scales? ah la Jurassic Park.
And again i doubt every single generation with be dumb what with sperm banks and what not, the first generation might be low turn out but only the first, i doubt the orb is going to hunt down every child to all eternatiy

When we started talking about the hypothetical likelihood of virgin births and human extinction in a comic about FREAKING VAMPIRE HIGHSCHOOLERS, I became board and lost interest. Just so you know. :(

You're using Jurassic Park as an example of nature tipping the scales? Let's use the Dodo bird or the Mastodon instead. That's a better picture of what nature does - it lets them die.

Personally I'm trying to figure out if Neko is talking about unheard of natural propagation through self cloning tendencies, that to my knowledge do not occur outside of the bible. Or if he's somehow mixed something up with a bit of hollywood script writing that borrows from a scientific documentation regarding a very localized ecosystem where amphibious DNA was able to somehow alter a few members of a single gender community into opposite gendered DNA donors so that their species in that area could continue.

But what I was getting at is that as all of generation one will be dumb valley girls that may or may not be natural blonds... Unless the orb doesn't affect any pregnancies, either via elimination, or changing the yet to be born child that is still in the womb... It still comes down to ITS THE FIRST GENERATION OF THE BLONDS!! If the orb succeeds, there won't be a person left smart enough to do anything, much less care for the next generation, fix the problem, or even use the sperm banks. If there's nothing to support the next generation, nothing that they can build upon, it won't matter. The point is... it's Valley Girl Blonds. None of them would be smart enough to ensure continued living.

Actually, aside from biblical accounts, there haven't been any recorded cases of human 'virgin' births. There have been several recorded among other species on the planet, and nothing to theoretically stop it in humans.

It's called parthenogenesis, by the way :)
