"Publishing startup" indeed. I wonder what Jung & Ramona have in mind.
I sense that Zadie is going to be very straight-laced for some time to come. Interesting foreshadowing by Ramona, mentioning yaoi. But I applaud Zadie or continuing to direct the interview into things about her, rather than ask what yaoi is. Plenty of time for that to come to light, assuming she doesn't already know what that is. She seems like a bright woman; but, I can't imagine the creative team not letting several strips of comedy embarrassment go to waste by having to initiate her.
And Aaron is understandably curious but his antics are wearing a bit thin at three strips in. There's silly and nervous in an awkward situation, and then there's just plain rude. It would appear that closed doors in Montreal don't mean a damn thing... even when people aren't having sex behind them. Comedy exaggeration of nerds without social grace ftw.

Gary has ascended to a new level. Aaron is his natural replacment because a socially awkward nerd is needed in every Pixie Trix Comix so it's fitting that a strip going by that name has one.worldshaking00 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 10:45 amAnd Aaron is understandably curious but his antics are wearing a bit thin at three strips in. I can definitely see Zadie getting along with Ruby when they eventually meet.

Yeah, nature abhors a vacuum. /eyeroll
On another note, I suppose it isn't out of the question that Zadie and Kiley have met one another... even if it was just sharing a class together or meeting at the book store or Kiley reading Zadie's contribution to the university press.

I'll accept any excuse to bring Kiley into this webcomic.

Calling it now, Zadie is the straight man for the comic. Aaron has a strong possibility of being the Buttmonkey, Jung and Ramona are the striving and perpetually broke proprietors just trying to keep the operation afloat.

Ah, right. So this isn’t just a comics shop workplace comedy. Publishing a comic about publishing comics may just be a touch too much of writing what you know, but it may work. Time will tell.
On the other hand, didn’t these creators do this before with Cool Cat Studios?
Well, at least Zadie’s job is more than the (let’s face it, very sexist, though that was the joke) counter candy. Which means she has no need to be Giz-cute, but let’s not complain about that.

I’d phrase it slightly differently; a comedy about nerd life is going to end up with at least one comedy nerd, and Giz would be very strange and perverse if she tried to fight that.
The best thing about this reveal is that it makes it more likely that Ruby will be a recurring character rather than just an occasional guest. She has management skills and a natural eye for visuals, to complement Zadie’s basic editorial experience.I can definitely see Zadie getting along with Ruby when they eventually meet.

Interesting development with Ramona planning to publish comics through the comic book store. And since Zadie is being hired to be a writer/editor does that mean she'll still be the new counter candy girl?

I really hope she bought those manga volumes, instead of just reading them. Book stores aren't libraries, and I've been shooed out once or twice for reading a whole volume without buying it.

Seems Ramona looks for all opportunities to announce yaoi. It's like she's a vegan.

Given that she was a bit nervous when first seen (though not particularly sensitive about the yaoi specifically), and needed to bring Angel along to the club to reinforce her confidence that first meeting, she does seem to have blossomed rather of late. If one wants justification for that, the relationship with Jung might help.

Re: PTC 18-04-19 Hit the ground running
Maybe Yuki and Gary's doujin will get published out of PTC? Gary could do worse than work as an artist in the game studio and have a comic on the side.
As for Kiley, I hear you @samtheman. I'd like to see Kiley, but other than someone trying to curb their yaoi fetishes I don't immediately see a way to bring her into shop with the current cast as is. Romance can be fickle. Zadie and Kiley could be university friends? Kiley might have heard that Gary is hooked up with Peggy, wishes him the best, but then finds she is lonely and wistfully remembering that special spark Gary & her shared... and looks into trying to hook another geek?
There's options, that wouldn't require too much of a stretch, should the team decide to go there.

I thought Yuki and Gary's doujin was still a work in progress and therefore not ready to be published yet. As for Kiley, it's not really a question of how to bring her into this webcomic it's a question of why would the creative team bring her into this webcomic in the first place? But this webcomic will probably also be written by the seats of their pants so anything is possible. But they are not going to bring Kiley back just because we want her back.worldshaking00 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 1:46 amMaybe Yuki and Gary's doujin will get published out of PTC?
