Re: 09-06-18 Winner gets what
The fact that Maura uses Lynn's stage name in her proclamation seems to be reinforcing she is a fangirl, enamoured with an idol, rather than the actual Lynn; Lynn being so enthusiastic in her cheers makes it clear - if it wasn't already - that she doesn't care if someone likes *her*, but only that they are attractive and apparently bi(?).
Since DiDi was only there for a f**k, it would be unlikely she would be offended by Lynn's sudden favouritism; she might feel slightly disheartened, but DiDi - in spite of being a terrible person - has shown to have some respect for wrestling, and would understand that Maura's greater experience can beat her normally overwhelming strength.
Regardless of DiDi's appreciation of wrestling, it is painfully (perhaps appropriately so) that she has no idea why Maura is fighting with such ferocity; I'm loathe to think Maura is genuinely *in love* with Lynn, but rather is a case of her pre-existing starstruck feelings combined with jealousy over DiDi's evidently faster rise in ranks (or at least, given praise), despite the latter being relatively much newer to the sport.
The passion in Maura's eyes appears to support the notion that her feelings have been building up, so the prospect of being disregarded yet again by her idol was the straw that broke the camel's back. As shown with prior fisticuffs with her own friend, Tess, Maura's version of melodrama usually results in brawling.
We've had a hat-trick of 1/1/2 panels (I'm not sure what the technical name is), with action scenes taking place, although the first of the set being a tad more dramatic. I wonder if this will continue for the next segments, i.e. a continuation of the sudden action choreography, or if it just to create some pattern for the arc?
*Edit* If not for Bianca saying she had a new place, I'd wager that the spy thriller action scene would come crashing into or across this simple wrestling contest. Unless Bianca's "new place" is a hotel suite, but that didn't seem to be the implication.

Referring to a pro wrestler by the name they wrestle under isn't unusual, and with most wrestlers it's preferred. Walk up to HBK and call him Mike and see what happens.

Perhaps, but looking at the context of her saying the wrestling name shows that Maura is in the *mood* of wrestling, with all of its theatrics, rather than romance.

That pin is worthless, all DD needs to do is thrust her hips up and Maura goes flying face first into the wall.

Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

This sub arc is needlessly dumb.

Re: 09-06-18 Winner gets what
Well, it seems like Lynn actually has more of a thing for Maura than for DiDi. Which I can understand, in the sense that Maura actually has a half-interesting personality and seems to have a slightly more functional brain, but is kind of new in Ma3 terms, as it denies the DiDi Effect. As said Effect was previously shown as working just fine on Lynn, one must conclude that Maura's personality has made a real impression on her.
And I like the way that the throwaway gag about the waitress hanging around to watch the show has been repurposed to convey some information and characterisation.
DiDi, on the other hand, still seems to be thinking of this as a wrestling training bout. In other words, she's being totally flocking clueless, even by her refined standards.
Incidentally, while I still think that the most likely end state for the comic is Zii with Gary and DiDi going off into the world of pro wrestling, we now have possible set-ups for a reversion to recent conditions instead. Peggy may be frightened off Bianca by, y'know, lethal weaponry and stuff, while Zii is still holding off Gary due to her recent character growth -- and now, Lynn seems to favour Maura over DiDi, which could possibly mean that DiDi's chances at the big leagues are going to be aborted. So if DiDi runs home, it could be to a newly resolved Zii, while Peggy might also flee home to the guy she should have realised really suits her.
That'd be a bit of a downer ending for the readers, in the sense that Gary has shown more passion for Zii than for Peggy, and Zii's relationship with DiDi looks fundamentally toxic, but we should perhaps have taken the ending of Menage a Zombies as a clue. But who knows? The course of true love ne'er runs smooth.

It's been established, repeatedly, that Maura suffers from an excessive competitive instinct -- and she's been shown previously as pissed off that DiDi attracted Lynn so effortlessly when she and Tess had had to work at it. In other words, this passion is less about her having the lesbian hots for Lynn -- she may well still be a bit unsure about that -- than her wanting to defeat DiDi.OllieOrOlly wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 10:06 amRegardless of DiDi's appreciation of wrestling, it is painfully (perhaps appropriately so) that she has no idea why Maura is fighting with such ferocity; I'm loathe to think Maura is genuinely *in love* with Lynn, but rather is a case of her pre-existing starstruck feelings combined with jealousy over DiDi's evidently faster rise in ranks (or at least, given praise), despite the latter being relatively much newer to the sport.

Bianca said that she could be persuaded to settle permanently in Montreal, which means that she hasn't done so yet. Hence, when she says "my place", that must be some kind of temporary accommodation -- which could easily be a hotel suite, if she's got the funds. (And she went out to a notably swish restaurant for dinner with Peggy, so presumably she's not broke.)OllieOrOlly wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 10:06 amIf not for Bianca saying she had a new place, I'd wager that the spy thriller action scene would come crashing into or across this simple wrestling contest. Re: 09-06-18 Winner gets what
I'm taking Maura's exclamation of Annie being her Prince Charming as being more like Maura's foolish outburst here. When she gets into ultra-competitive mode, her brain short circuits. While she is confused or curious about Lynn's advances/tight butt et al. she is there to outdo Didi... in just about every way.
I don't know what to take from Lynn's back-and-forth nature over choosing Maura or Didi for after-wrestling sexi-times... or rather, letting them wrestle over it. Having them fight over her certainly is ego-stroking, not to mention a minor turn-on. She's been trying to win Didi's affection for a while now, but has been flirting with clueless Maura on the side too. Lynn's cheering on Maura is also perplexing, and will it have an effect on Didi? Will it dishearten Didi into not wanting to be with/near Lynn? Could it even sour Didi into not wanting to join the WW3? Could it envigorate Didi and allow her amazonian strength to burst forth?
I can't help but feel that if Didi had just called ahead to Lynn, saying that she was coming over, that this entire 'Lynn's hotel' arc wouldn't be necessary. Had she done so, Lynn would have been able to shoo Maura away in time for Didi to arrive. Sexi-times yada yada. And everyone would be happier... well... except Maura. Moral of the story: don't go off half-cocked (in regards to Didi just leaving the apartment in search of her next orgasme.)
I like the artwork in the final panel. Maura certainly seems fierce and sexy there. Didi needs to get her head in the match if she wants to win. Edit: I mean, I don't even think Didi realized they are in competition for Lynn's bed.

That pin is actually very effective, if it’s what I think it is. It’s a judo and jujitsu move as well (I know little of wrestling but jujitsu is the bomb). When sitting on someone’s chest, they can’t get you off and thrusting her hips will do little since she’s no where near the hips. You’re supposed to be a tad higher but I’m assuming the author wanted Didi’s boobs present. I’ve been on both the bottom and top of this move and for most beginners, it’s very hard to get out of.UnsightlyWalrus wrote: ↑Sat Jun 09, 2018 10:30 amThat pin is worthless, all DD needs to do is thrust her hips up and Maura goes flying face first into the wall.

So, does wrestling a hot girl turn you lesbian?
Asking for a friend...
Anyway, this seems to be setting up: Lynn gets Maura, who hopefully also gets a lot of pro-wrestling tips out of this. DiDi, defeated, leaves in tears, just wanting to get back to her luhuhuuvvv Zii... Who, who knows, might be getting some little man in the canoe action by now after all?
Am I doing it right?

It would seem that Lynn is unexpectedly attracted to Maura's competitive spirit. Even if DiDi pulls off an upset she might be too smitten to care.
