Only because Didi can't go a day without orgasms. If she truly loved Zii, she'd learn to live without nookie until Zii was ready to perform, again. But, Didi lacks this level of patience/empathy for others - so, I'd be amazed if she went that route.LegendaryKroc wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:35 amNeedless to say this is a pretty big revelation, and one that does not bode well for her and Didi's relationship.

Yeah, that sounds about right for her portrayal in the last several dozen strips she's been in, Fluffy. I guess you and Spidrift were right all along.

WhaWhaWhat? Are you reading the same comic I am?Spidrift wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:13 pmIt was a very brief encounter, without Zii and Kiley actually interacting directly. (Hence, “hardly counts”.) Since then, Zii has seen much, much more of the consequences of Kiley’s actions. And those consequences logically show Kiley to be a crazed scheming maniac who wants to ruin Zii’s world for shit and giggles.

I think it's actually simpler. See, right now, Zii is explaining her reasons to Izzy, and Didi is overhearing without Zii knowing that. This situation will probably continue for a couple of strips. Maybe Zii is telling the truth and maybe she's bullshitting, but whatever it is doesn't matter, because the important thing is that Didi will believe every word Zii says.TwoWayStar wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 12:32 amI DID NOT PLAN ON THIS REVELATION *fretfully looks at options* NEW SIMPLIFIED OPTIONS
A/B. Didi cheats on Zii for whichever reasons.
C. Didi bungles (both sets???) advice and someone gets dumped.
D. Didi executes (both sets) of advice and relationship improves.
im still stickin with B happens but maaaan i hope d happens!
Only two developments can happen after that:
A. Didi decides to appear before Zii and talk to her about all the things she heard
B. Didi decides she knows enough: she has learned Zii's secrets and will act in consequence, there's no need to talk to her
My A would be your D, and my B leads to all other options (and to disaster).

The evidence, circumstantial as it is, has Kiley at the epicenter of relationship issues that have impacted Zii. We can see that Kiley doesn't give a fig about Zii, but if Zii were to get quasi-Sherlock she could place Kiley at the scenes of the crimes (as it were.)

Maybe she's found she's not as interested in Didi as she thought, but seeing as how that interest has cost her so much, she figures she can't leave her now.Spidrift wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:56 amIt appears that it’s taken a moment of panic to make Zii blurt out the full truth. Of course, it’s just possible that Zii is just saying this to fend Izz off, but... No, it just doesn’t read that way to me.
Presumably, the cause is either just depression over screwing up the band and everything else except the relationship with DiDi, or something deeper and more existential. Assuming the latter, if only for fun — Zii has always been about the conquests, and for a long time, DiDi seemed to her to be the ultimate, unobtainable goal. Then she got there. She stood on the peak of Everest, and wept because there were no more worlds to conquer, if you’ll pardon a hideously mixed metaphor. That part of her life is over. She needs a new justification for her existence. And, of course, the long-term relationship with DiDi isn’t it. That really was just a goal, not a process. The end of the comic, for her, has to be about finding a new goal.
On a technical note — I do like the panel compositions today. Ma3 is often just about two people talking in a room, which is great, in a minimal sort of way; it’s clean and serves a purpose. Here, though, we have something more dynamic; tension-conflict-motion-shock. Visual storytelling.

Yes, I am, but Zii isn’t. As I keep saying, the question is how Kiley appears to Zii. Try dropping out of omniscient reader mode for a minute and think about this. She could become quite paranoid on the subject.

But Didi has only recently started getting Orgasms after a lifetime of denial (remember the pile of dead batteries and burned-out vibrators?) She probably is still recovering from that trauma.

Yeah - hardly feeling sympathy for a woman who is more concerned about being denied her daily dose of multiple orgasms instead of respecting her 'one true love's' need for a break in sexy times.

Zii must truly care about her music career if the breakup of her band is enough to snap her out of her preoccupation with sex.
What remains to be seen is if DiDi will defy all expectations and encourage her. She didn't succumb to Sonya's attempts at seduction so maybe she will.

She always seemed to want to go somewhere with the music. But the problem was, the sex came easy to her, whereas putting a successful band together required work. It's only now that she's having to confront the question of what will really satisfy her. Anyhow, we still have to see quite how serious and authentic this is, and exactly what the problem is. I personally reckon it's that she's always been more about the chase than the catch, and now she's caught DiDi, so there's nowhere left for her to go... But we'll just have to wait and see.
As for DiDi...She's really never been written as noble. She used to be nice, when it didn't cost her much, and she rejected Sonya because she'd realised that she did need the emotional connection of sorts to get the hot throbbing climaxes, but we've been given zero hints that she's capable of doing the right thing in a challenging situation like this.

Zii without a sex drive is like chocolate that tastes just like vanilla. This is a complete surprise to me.

Probably seen DiDi's inner monologuing before, however, it is quite odd seeing her thoughts so clearly expressed without any Franglish making it confusing. She even seems to have some reasonable points to cover, at least, until overhearing Zii's obvious lie as a last ditch effort to dissuade the rambunctious Izz - which, since DiDi is stupid/gullible, she may be partial to believing Zii's lie.
Not that their relationship is worth so much serious consideration. Aha
We've seen Zii resist temptation before, but it usually ends with her succumbing to it with abandon; this case, however, it seems that she actually realises that screwing someone besides one's supposed lover has detrimental effects, rather than becoming intoxicated by her lust again. Also, it could be that by now even she realises that it is best to avoid intimacy with A.) fellow band mates, and more importantly B.) people highly likely to have a personality disorder of sorts.
Granted, it could be her resistance is merely due to Zii finally trying to put effort into the band over momentary self-gratification, and/or she already has her *golden* f--k with DiDi.

Re: 17-02-18 Our music needs this
I have the feeling that rather than Zii telling a 'lie' about her relationship with Didi, she may consider her previous 'relationships' with Yuki and Sonya to be ones she was lured into via sex and didn't care about. In both Eric's and Didi's case it feels like Zii does have some emotional input into it going beyond just a single or a few bang-bangs.
Then again, she might've just wanted to do the deed with Didi, too, and now is having second thoughts about making it a relationship, but that feels like it's less of a 'misunderstanding comedy gold mine'.
