Sigh... The stupidity had to arrive at some point.
Niether owes the other an explanation. Why are they upset?

Perhaps they are both ridiculous for being mad at the other for catching each other's lie; though, Maura's feels a bit worse, since her fib involved a sick family member, rather than just a family member - which would be even worse if she does have an ill grandmother, but I digress.
Besides, I found the range of their expressions to be amusing and engaging enough to not mind the old hat gag.

Ah, the Ma3 universe. Where testing someone's claims about dinner arrangements has to involve panty-flashing, and stupidity always includes a dose of very skewed logic. One could ask how Maura could guess that Tess lying about her plans for the evening had to imply Tess having plans to get laid, but ... Ma3 universe.
And yeah, Tess in panel 3 is worth the price of admission.
The way that these two's lifelong friendship has lurched into perpetual squabbling is weird but solid Ma3-universe comedy, too.

Maura has some boundary issues, it seems.

These two live together, regularly shower together after wrestling, and used to do weird things together underwater in swimming costumes and waterproof makeup. I'll agree there's a boundary infringement here (and Tess clearly thinks so), but by Ma3 standards, it's not perhaps a large or unlikely one.

Agreed. Love Panel 3. Just come clean, you two, and apologize. Your night will be happier overall.
Alternately, get into a scuff up in the restaurant, embarrassing yourselves and your guests. Wardrobe malfunction foreshadowing any one? Then, make up.

Fancy place for dinner, is likely how Maura could guess Tess was lying.Spidrift wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 11:46 amAh, the Ma3 universe. As for how they act together, I can easily accept they're a comedy universe best friend duo, to pull off the joke.

Tess wears a very tight dress (look at the way the cloth doesn't fall back on its own) and the "come-bone-me panties" have little ribbons on them. Maura might have noticed the bumps they made and Sherlocked the conclusion. She's an idiot but she can be an observant idiot; and as pointed out Tess is probably the person she knows the best.

Maura will become an excellent detective, after she quits wrestling.

I'm not surprised that Maura hoisted Tess' skirt. This is the same girl that placed her contact info in Zii's butt crack and sent cleavage selfies to her favorite wrestler. Boundaries, schmoundaries...

I think I'm one of the few who really loves the wrestling arc. But then, I watch wrestling on a regular basis, sooooooooo...
That being said, these two crack me up. Just yankin' her dress up in the middle of the restaurant, no biggie, and Tess hasn't even moved to cover herself back up

I have the impression that they're in the ladies' toilet. Even Ma3 characters don't do stuff like that in the middle of a busy restaurant.

I love it too. just more interesting than the band arc or the Gary-abuse-of-the-hour arc. That and I prefer EC/MC anyway and this is the last we'll see of those charactersDarkflame173 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 11:28 pmI think I'm one of the few who really loves the wrestling arc. Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

And just when it seemed that Maura was getting smarter.
