After she gleefully, silently watched the band meltdown. Then she raced off to the nearest shop, and somehow tracked down Terry, to cuckoo her way into the band before Zii might have a chance to process and get actual replacements. "I've improved! Probably... here, I'll play Misty for you."

Your reference to this "Teddi" bore a striking resemblance to some negative comments I've read about Claire.LegendaryKroc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 6:14 amWhat? No. I was talking about Teddy (or should that be "Teddi") from this comic's neighbour, Dangerously Chloe!. That comic hasn't the tact or grace to handle a girl-who-is-actually-a-guy storyline with anything approaching dignity - just look through the last two chapters and you'll see what I mean.CEOIII wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:19 amIf this is a reference to Claire from Questionable Content, you, good sir, can die in a fire.LegendaryKroc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 1:24 amInitial thoughts: DiDi looks lovely as always, and unlike someone from another comic I could mention, it's not off-putting by knowledge of her secretly being a dude.
What made you think I was talking about Questionable Content? I never talk about that comic around here, and I certainly wouldn't be comparing it negatively to the material on offer in these funnies, some of which have been downright painful on the really bad days.
2 asides:
a) If Teddi believes she is a she, she. Is. A. She. Full fucking stop.
b) Trans women are NOT "off-putting". If you believe otherwise, I stand by my initial statement re you and fire.

Point one: I adore Claire from QC.
Point two: does Teddi identify as a woman?

I for one wouldn’t like to say. Teddy/Teddi has zero to do with real trans people, being a guy who has been magically transformed into a woman, and despite never apparently wanting that, has decided to roll with the fact. Questions of identification are basically meaningless there. And that comic is spectacularly crap on logic or characterisation, so using it in arguments is going to go nowhere.
(Claire, on the other hand, is written, apparently successfully, as a realistic trans woman. No resemblance to Teddi, either as a character or a literary device. If people have used the same sort of language talking about both, it’s either a coincidence or because people are idiots.)
Alternatively, don’t sweat the details.

Uh-huh. Either this is a weekend, or it’s an evening and Montreal instrument shops (and wrestling practice sessions) open late. Terry, though, may simply have come over to plead with Angel, been rebuffed, and then bumped into Izz while wandering forlornly round the building.Treader wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 6:53 amAfter she gleefully, silently watched the band meltdown. Yuki plays drums, so if she were to have moved her drum set into the other rehearsal studio she would have been very noticeable. But yes, I think that she would have told Izzy. Politeness and all that, with probably some choice cuss words about Zii in Japanese muttered under her breath.
Cuckoo, yes. Makes sense. Gleefully and silently? Not sure about that. Izzy has been creepy as a stalker, but not spiteful of the rest of the band. She's trying to impress Zii, given the tools she has.Treader wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2017 5:28 pmAfter she gleefully, silently watched the band meltdown. 1. ...That's why? Well, it's more on you than me. I've never spoken about Questionable Content! on this forum before, not even once, and certainly never in reference to transsexual characters. Any resemblance is pure coincidence, so I'll thank you not to lump me in with the people who made these "negative comments" you speak of.CEOIII wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 8:27 amYour reference to this "Teddi" bore a striking resemblance to some negative comments I've read about Claire.

2. The strip flip flops on that point constantly. Right now "Teddi" is poised to become "THE ULTIMATE MAN", or some such. So I guess he is more of a heat-of-the-moment, whatever-works-best sort.
3. Are you TRYING to get offended by some throwaway comment I made? Maybe it was carelessly made, but stop trying to make me out to be some kind of hateful bigot. No, I don't have anything against trans people, IRL or in fiction. Teddi has never struck me as trans, however, but a guy in a body-morph whom the comic just wouldn't allow to be a guy again and whose ginormous boobs the comic keeps shoving in our faces in the hopes we'll not notice the lack of decent jokes of late. Any possible sex appeal is thus lost on me because the lack of naturalism makes it seem like amateur porn. That's all I was talking about and if you still want to find what I said offensive, I can't stop you but I can add you to my Ignore list.
That's my last word on this... whatever it is.

Oh, that's a good point... but I as well would like to point that the quote you ascribe to me is not from me, but a reply by a fellow forum writer to a previous message of mine.worldshaking00 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 11:03 amCuckoo, yes. Sonya speaks of Angel's "bandmates", there was probably at least one another member the last time she saw the band perform. Angel did not correct her, but that may not mean much.

Not spiteful, no. That would require giving them a second thought, beyond "Hey, now's my chance." She's as selfish and stupid as the majority of the cast, but not malicious.worldshaking00 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 11:03 amCuckoo, yes. Makes sense. Gleefully and silently? Not sure about that. If a lesbian said she found a man off putting, you wouldn't bat an eye.CEOIII wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 8:27 amYour reference to this "Teddi" bore a striking resemblance to some negative comments I've read about Claire.LegendaryKroc wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2017 6:14 amWhat? A straight guy says they find a trans woman off putting, and you think "Hey! Burn in fire!"
You sir (or ma'am...no idea...really doesn't matter though) are what's wrong with society today Congrats!

Looking through the archives there was one other guitar player in the band who may be the former bassist. http://www.stickydillybuns.com/strips-s ... ndly_terms
And of course there's Terry the former drummer, but Pretty Boyz with Electric Toyz seemed like it was more than just a trio although I have no evidence to support it.

That’s a four-string in that strip. Hence, bassist.
Making the Pretty Boyz a trio would keep the plot simple at this point; I can’t imagine much reason to add the complications of a fourth player. But who knows?

What’s cheap about it? The Troublemakers were a trio. Rock history has its share of very credible trios, from Cream through Motorhead and the Jam to Nirvana. Fours and fives may be a bit more common, but there’s no need to tag on a spare wheel character if the plot doesn’t demand it.

They would be basically replacing Zii with Angel - may as well call the band Angel and the Troublemakers.
IMO, just because some characters are not important to the plot, does not mean the must not exist at all. We have seen many characters without name tag, who have no real importance - they make the comic universe feel more populated.
