So, what was Gary's plan here? Looking to actually date Tracy for real, or give her A Lesson too?

...well, although I'm not one to join in on the trend on this forum of "I'm the biggest fan because I hate it the most," I kind of feel like we moved away at exactly the wrong time. I feel like, whether or not Tracy dates Gary, she should be with James.

Well, good to know Gary's not playing couples therapist. Now let him dump Tracy and live free life

Hmmm, well, although Gary did like-like Tracy, I think even he realised she wasn't exactly *dating material* - for him, at least - due to her short-temper, manipulative behaviour, and ongoing attachment to James.
I'm leaning towards the probability that Gary is simply following some plan yet unrevealed to us, and somehow going through the motions of telling the grapefruit fact by getting James off and going on date with Tracy are steps of the plan.
The final image of Gary's expression (or, what we can see through the gimp mask) display frustration, yet not anger nor especially strong incredulity, hinting that he wasn't honestly wanting a date with Tracy, but rather was following some ulterior plan - which, clearly, has been delayed by Tracy's camgirl activity. So, Gary isn't particularly upset at not having a proper date, but is merely annoyed that his plan has this obstacle.
His interior line could be showing his passivity lingering on, however, it could also just be a sardonic remark he is keeping to himself since he doesn't want to undermine his overall scheme.

Gary more than likely isn't scheming anything. He probably intended to go with flow of a normal date & have the conversation where the truths come out somewhere near the end of the night.

The smirk if there is one is good chance of him going there's the twist...

I suspect that people are being tempted to make too much of Gary's character development. He's more alert and assertive, sure, but why should we assume that he's suddenly become smart?

(Not that he was ever stupid, sure, but ... not smart, oftentimes, you know?)

So I suspect that he was simply hoping for a straightforward date here. And, hey, let's not treat that as too stupid. Tracy is attractive and shares a lot of his interests, and if he didn't date crazy manipulative women... Well, he'd still have Peggy now, but he wouldn't have got here in the first place. The issue is how he takes things from here.

No longer being Gary-Classic doesn't automatically make him Havelock Vetinari.

Or he's just taking life as it comes - which is classic Gary, and usually works for him. I mean, a man who bore no obvious grudges after being used as a human vibrator by a conga line of porn stars might well not feel too bad when a date with a cute girl turns out to involve a bit of performative BDSM. It's not like he's particularly sexually frustrated these days, after all.

Though I think he'll eventually sort out something that puts Tracy and James back together, if only as an accidental side effect. I wonder if a confused and jealous James will blunder in on this scene, forcing him to confront the truth about Tracy and eventually allowing them to establish a relationship based on honesty?

Gary thought he could now make a move on Tracy but she turned the tables on him so to speak. And I really hope this idiot plot wraps up soon.

I think he actually wanted to date her.

But, Tracy may have just ruined it for herself by automatically assuming Gary would help her with her camgirl duties without asking him, first. Hey - he didn't argue the first time, right?

Come on, assertive Gary - come forth and tell Tracy you're not her whipping boy.

Mmm, yeah, except last time Gary was the one doing all the ‘whipping’.

Gary knows perfectly well he can say ‘no’ to this. Indeed, he discovered this super power with Tracy. If he goes along with it, it’ll be because he wants to.

But I suspect it won’t go that road. I’m guessing here is where Gary realizes that Tracy is her own brand of crazy and not much better than James in that regard, and he decides that she’s not for him.

I'm honestly hoping for that, myself.

Whether Tracy explodes at him for not being sympathetic to her needs or feels remorse for being so self serving; either way, it'll be entertaining.

I suspect that Gary will go along with this, out of politeness -- he is still Gary, after all, and logically, if he refuses, Tracy will have to chase around dealing with the gap in her work schedule (though the writers might just ignore that). He can always make it clear afterwards that this is the last time, if he's not supposed to be backsliding too much.

If he does assert himself, one way or another, and if we don't get, say, James bursting in, Tracy, instead of feeling remorse or anger, might agree with James that Gary being assertive is appealingly manly of him. Personally, I think that's kind of dumb and annoying (it seems like a polished-up version of "treat 'em mean to keep 'em keen", which is a dubious as well as an ugly idea), but it does crop up in Ma3. That in turn could have two effects; on the positive side, if Gary discovers that being politely assertive doesn't lose him friends, and might even get him laid, it could reinforce his character development. On the negative side, if he thinks that the more hostile he is the more admiration he gets, he could devolve into an annoying jerk for a while.

Curious, yet random question. Just throwing it out there...

Does Tracy ever wear the hood?
Anti-Yuki till the grave claims me...

Kid Kool (1988) for the Nintendo Entertainment System is GROSSLY underrated. Sure the concept could've been presented a little better, but it doesn't deserve the hate it gets in some circles.
