Re: 22-09-15 I will go broke
Ah yes, Rebecca performing the duties of a good agent; making bleedin' obvious suggestions that her clients are too dim to have thought of. So now, we and Dillon will find out on Friday just how much of a problem Ruby has with her sister.
We already see a difference between Dillon and Ruby. They both like their creature comforts, but while Dillon just takes his manicures and massages almost for granted, Ruby understands that stuff has to be paid for, and treats that as a problem to solve.
By the way, talking of Amber - note that she makes a guest non-appearance in today's Ma3. It sounds like she's somewhat fixated on Ray - possibly to a worrying extent, given that (a) he's technically her first boyfriend, and (b) it's not at all clear how serious he is about her. That may yet blow up in her face.

Its called delayed gratification Dillon. You give up some luxuries now to have better ones later. But patience has never been his thing.

If it meant double the money I think Ruby could work with her sister, but she'll be asked to do the work of 2 people for the cost. Hopefully, this confrontation might further explore Ruby's strained relationship with Amber, but then again something this important could also be conveniently pushed aside too. We cannot have too much progress.Spidrift wrote:Ah yes, Rebecca performing the duties of a good agent; making bleedin' obvious suggestions that her clients are too dim to have thought of. And Dillon definitely needs a responsible PA if he has no idea what his finances are and spends what he gets on frivolous things. He is a True Hollywood story just waiting to happen.

Re: 22-09-15 I will go broke
I'd be annoyed if Ruby's perpetual unfocused rage at Amber was just forgotten at this point; it's been emphasised repeatedly up until now. More interesting is if we get Dillon pushing to find out why Ruby has this problem.
As to Dillon needing a PA -- tmn and I have been saying that a funny possibility here is Ruby turning into a tyrant, but Dillon having to admit that, well, he needs the discipline...

Yeah, the comment about giving up his manicures and massages shows Dillon really does need the discipline. Discipline which Ruby will not hesitate to apply with ruthless efficiency, once she realizes that allowing Dillon his "frivolities" could mean her not getting paid. Poor, poor Dillon.
As for her feelings toward her sister, I can see Ruby swallowing a lot of it so she can get paid. She should be smart enough to know that if she keeps showing the kind of hostility toward Amber that she has in the past, well, there goes half her salary. So, like many people who hate their jobs and/or hate the person they're working for, she may just suck it up for the sake of the paycheck.
The real question's going to be if Amber wants Ruby working for her. Amber may not want to work with someone who has proven so difficult to understand and get along with. Ruby was basically shoved into her life without her consent after all.
And if Ruby tries to go all "tyrant" on Amber, I can't see Amber just sitting back and taking it. It could lead to all-out war between the sisters. Or Ruby just getting fired.

Re: 22-09-15 I will go broke
But Amber is Ruby's red kryptonite. She can go from a standing start to incoherent rage in seconds when Amber says the wrong thing (like "hello"). It really does mess up all Ruby's attempts to be cool, calm, and collected. In fact, we all thought that Ruby was a far more tempestuous person when she first appeared than turned out to be the case, just because we initially saw her around Amber.themacnut wrote:As for her feelings toward her sister, I can see Ruby swallowing a lot of it so she can get paid. She may take this job anyway. But it may need an intervention from Dillon to make her accept the necessity.
You'd think. But to give her credit, Amber has put up with Ruby's attitude pretty well so far; she sounded genuinely upset at least once when she couldn't understand what was making Ruby angry, and another time, she was pleased to discover that sticking a kitten in Ruby's face switched off the anger.themacnut wrote:The real question's going to be if Amber wants Ruby working for her. Both the sisters seem to put a lot of emphasis on family loyalty. Ruby kept Amber's secret; Amber put up with Ruby's anger. The problem with Amber is that she not only doesn't understand how someone like Ruby thinks at all, she doesn't try to find out. She just improvises quick-fix non-solutions. (Heck, giving Ruby a job may seem like another such quick fix.) It's all part of her porny, one-night-stand mentality that she needs to modify.
Probably not necessary. Amber has always been drawn as notably more practical and level-headed than Dillon, from scamming Nathan for the apartment to pointing out this latest problem. I'm sure that she'd find a PA useful, but she doesn't need someone to run things the way that Dillon does.themacnut wrote:And if Ruby tries to go all "tyrant" on Amber, I can't see Amber just sitting back and taking it. Dillon needs a brain; Amber needs a heart. And Ruby needs courage.

In SDB, yes. In the comics in general, no.
Though she's not much of an established character yet. Just a plot device as yet.

Re: 22-09-15 I will go broke
Well some expenses can be justified like looking attractive for an audition and Ruby cannot deny that Dillon has better fashion sense than her so perhaps she could reign in some of his extravagances.themacnut wrote:Yeah, the comment about giving up his manicures and massages shows Dillon really does need the discipline. Ruby kept her secret and while some may consider this current living arrangement a form of blackmail it was not Ruby's idea to live with Amber and she does not make thinly veiled threats to tattle. Ruby can be discreet which is a good quality in a personal assistant. Considering the money involved Ruby might be willing to work for Amber and this might actually work out for all involved until something inevitably causes things to breakdown. This is a comedy after all. Amber does not act like a diva so I doubt it would be the same things that made Senna impossible to work with so who knows what that might be.themacnut wrote:As for her feelings toward her sister, I can see Ruby swallowing a lot of it so she can get paid.
