The question, though, is what does he get to suck?
And Rudy is definitely helping Ruby more than anyone else is. Meanwhile, Angel is starting to look like the smartest person in this comic - this conversation has been a masterclass in playing the soap opera Iago.
And the question of whether Ruby cracks under temptation and blows her good girl image in Dillon's eyes is now open. How she'd explain it to herself would be the difficult bit.

Dillon is so into his head now that I don't think he noticed the hesitation in Ruby's voice. IF that is the case I think Dillon might actually own up to his BS.
All Ruby has to do now is keep calm and let Dillon talk to Jerzy. Though with this being a comedy and all I can see how Ruby could blurt out how she would love some Yaoi next strip.

... but we all know that drama-queen Dillon's confession would be a thing straight out of the a Greek tragedy!! :o
I have a feeling "Rudy" will be kept in the back of Ruby's closet when all this is over... just in case

Why must Dillon be such a drama queen?

He is a stereotype of a stereotype. Also as some would put it, his fluffy pink world is receding to the reality of the situation. He can't eat his cake and have it too.
To me it seems that he feels like he has been exposed as a hypocrite. He talked about how hurt he was by Matt for doing things behind his back, and he was in the process of doing the same.
Of course Matt was full on cheating and Dillon was just flirting but in Dillon's mind it might be the same.

Re: 15-04-14 Things I could give
I'm pretty sure there was some intent on Dillon's side, though - why else would he get annoyed when the object of his desire showed more attention to someone other than himself (like Gary to Amber, or Richie to Ruby?)
Did I mention how I really love how Angel is being completely honest about the whole situation and not painting it in her favor? Her honesty is refreshing. Here's hoping Ruby doesn't screw it up by lying in order to protect a lying jackass.

That's called manipulation my dear, and you fell right into it. Iago level of manipulation like pointed out Spidrift, but still manipulation nonetheless.

The mind-set, very possibly, and maybe also the costume. I hope so; it brings out the best in her. Ruby has problems being assertive without being abrasive; Rudy, being a cool dude, gives her an alternative.Hogan wrote:I have a feeling "Rudy" will be kept in the back of Ruby's closet when all this is over... just in case
Actually, Ruby may find it a bit tricky if and when she has to actually decide what to say. She's quite soft-hearted, and I don't think she'd actually want to put Dillon to serious distress - but she's also a very honest person and hence a lousy liar. She's going to be much happier if Dillon does confess for himself.Fluffy wrote:Here's hoping Ruby doesn't screw it up by lying in order to protect a lying jackass.
Unless she can find an excuse to claim that yaoi instead, of course.
(And I'm pretty sure that she never really planned to blackmail Dillon by lying for him. She's just thoroughly enjoying having the upper hand on Dillon for once, and talking like that skate-punk Rudy is all part of the fun. If she'd really been trying there, she could have set a price from the start - being left out of Dillon's wacky schemes in future, say, or getting his help in politely dumping Andy. That'll teach Dillon for introducing her to the joys of roleplaying.)

Sorry to say, but Spidrift's opinion is his opinion only - not the end all/be all of facts.Bambikles wrote:That's called manipulation my dear, and you fell right into it. Iago level of manipulation like pointed out Spidrift, but still manipulation nonetheless.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary (2b and 3): the definition of manipulation; as applied to this case
Sure - Angel is telling all this to Jerzy in order to get Jerzy to break up with Dillon and claim him for herself. However, manipulation involves lying or deceit in some fashion in order to gain such favor; and Angel is being upfront and completely honest in everything that went on. So, I would consider her actions as more willful intent moreso than manipulation - seeing as even if she was successful in breaking Dillon and Jerzy up, Jerzy has made it clear that he's uninterested in hooking back up with her.
Now, Dillon lying to Jerzy about his attempts in scoring with other guys or Ruby lying to Jerzy in order to protect Dillon would be a far better example of manipulation.

Re: 15-04-14 Things I could give
Funnily enough, I didn't use the word "manipulation".
I probably would, though; even that dictionary definition doesn't actually talk about lying - just about being artful, unfair, or insidious. Angel is being magnificently artful, and quite insidious; Dillon would also say unfair, but I think we can all agree that Dillon's opinion would be biased. The point is, though, that Angel isn't manipulating the truth much; just Jerzy's perceptions of it, and hence, Angel will hope, Jerzy himself.
(Angel has the advantage over Iago that in this case, the unvarnished truth does the job more than well enough.)
Ruby, on the other hand, may end up lying, to save Dillon's neck (though I wouldn't bet on it), but she's unlikely to do so very manipulatively; she'd most likely just mumble a denial, and blush a bit. Almost everything we've seen about her says that she dislikes lying, and isn't very good at it. The big honking exception is her seven years of lying, at least by omission, either to protect Amber's reputation with their parents, or to protect their parents' feelings from a horrible shock. Actually, the fact that Amber effectively forced her into that much deception may help explain why Ruby is so damned angry with Amber.
