True, but atleast in EC/MC, there havent been many straight official pairings either. You have Layla's relationship with Diodore and Kade and somewhat FaithxAsh.

And even at that. . .Faith and Ash aren't really a couple couple and more of a Faith sometimes wants a roll in the hey with a guy. After all, she ALSO wants Tiffany to be her official girlfriend. Layla and Diodore are about the only straight couple that exists as a couple. Jacqui isn't really dating anyone specific and Cerise seems to be enjoying her date with Callie. . .

Well, I'm thinking about the, um, long term ones. . .so, yeah, Eugine and Maria, Tiff's Parents, and that seems to be it.

Actually there is Ace and Brook. But that pair could easily go under the radar unless you read the story in EC vol. 1. Brook indirectly referred to it when Cerise came to her about make out advice for girls.

I don't count them as a couple right now. Brooke hasn't actually said they were dating officially, and actually said she MIGHT like to date him in the future, so. . .

We really only have as official couples- Faith/Ash, Marie/Eugine, Tiff's Parents, Layla/Diodore. . .cut that to the main cast and not parents. . .we have Faith/Ash and Layla/Diodore. . .and Faith is also seeing Rosie and possibly Tiffany. . .sooooo...the only straight couple appears to be Layla/Diodore.

The central characters in EC/MC are high school kids (and a few of the teachers, to a lesser extent), so that means there have to be parents and very likely some stable hetero relationships there, but they're supporting cast, and don't really count as far as I'm concerned. High school students (regardless of sexual orientation) may, frequently, be in stable, monogamous relationships, but most of those are temporary (It's called 'going steady' and may last anywhere from a week, to a lifetime.) A good case can be made for dating several (or many) different people, because that's how you learn about different personalities. And that helps you to know what you want before you marry the wrong person.

From Iolanthe, one of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas (also from memory, so not exact):

(Strephon and Phyllis are talking about getting married)
Strephon: Maybe we should wait. In case we change our minds.
Phyllis: No, we should get married first.
Strephon: And change out minds later?
Phyllis: That's how it's usually done.

So, Kade should be the one most likely to have a successful marriage.... eventually.
Except that Kade is a cat. Male or female, Kade knew what Kade wanted: As a boy he wanted ALL the girls. As a girl she wants ALL the boys.

To get back to MC, Cerise has been choosing whom to date for the wrong reasons, but the result is still that she is learning about other people and herself. When (if) she grows out of her 'popularity is everything' mindset she should be in a good position to form a good relationship. Maybe with Callie. Maybe with Mel. (She was the one who came up with the idea of changing one of the coven into a guy to go after Layla and make Kade jealous. True, she intended to change one of the others, but it still indicates she was somewhat open to the idea. She would still have to get over her fear of being good. Which (my guess) is because she sees being good as being weak.)

Edit: Another idea: Kade touches Blair (if she hasn't already) and them Mel. The curse is transferred turning them both into boys. (This requires interpreting the curse as reversing each person's gender rather than exchanging two people's genders.) But, the curse is weakening so Mel becomes "Mel 1/2", changing back and forth between boy and girl. In the meantime Cerise has come to accept that she is bisexual making Mel now her perfect partner. (Hypothetical future argument: Cerise: I want to take a girl to see this movie. Mel: But I feel like being a boy today!)

Also, which I left out the first time:

A general comment about all the personalities of the students in EC/MC:

Many posters here (probably including me, though I don't recall any specific examples) are treating them as if they were adults with their current personalities. They aren't, they're teenagers who are still forming their adult personalities. So they are much more malleable than adults, and it's much easier (though not actually easy) for them to change. So any "Faith is this way." "Cerise is that way." statements need the caveat that those traits really might change. We shouldn't take any of this as permanent.

IF Mel is afraid of being GOOD. . .she needs a visit from Esmerelda, Gytha, and Tiffany. . .and maybe have a talk with Lilith if we can ever figure out what mirror she's in.

Now that would be interesting!

And (of course) I'm getting 'afraid to be good' from her reaction to her dream at the beginning of MC.

I just finished reading I Shall Wear Midnight. And, yeah, I tend to assume that the mains can change over time. Maybe that's why I love late teens for my writing. It's easier to have personality changes and growth than later in adulthood.

Ash is, however, the only male she allows to get that close and the only one she takes even a little seriously -- or so it seems to me. Tiffany is the only female she has started to take seriously; she just uses the others. Abbot is an unconventional person in many ways, to put it mildly (I could use stronger terms, but that seems superfluous). Viewing her concept of a relationship requires some... skewed thinking, methinks.

Yeah. I have a feeling that Faith is one of those who will, well, benefit from a polyamarous relationship, which is sort of what she's heading towards at this point.

Personally, I think she'd benefit more from a quick, sharp shock, followed by the loss of all her prestige, but we'll see which way the comic's creators take her.

I've always believed that love was the fastest way to get such a shock. . .and I don't think that Faith is in love with Ash or Tiffany.
