I believe Mme. DeVille might have vision issues... after all, Zii might not look as though she's smuggling honeydews out of the store, but she's a little alternative cutie! No way someone with even decent vision mistakes her for a boy (especially not Gary, now.) Hence, her perception of Didi being so much like herself in earlier years.

Speaking of Gary, I think his experience with the landlady is behind his running - not so much away, but to most likely get the rent. The sooner she's paid and doesn't have a reason to talk to them, the sooner her crabby puss leaves. Gary may be sexually inexperienced, but he's not dumb.

Eeeerrrrgh....Eulice has crossed the line from crabby to creepy. And calling Zii a man is just mean-spirited, if not a result of poor eyesight.
