Calling All Filmmakers!

Didn't find a thread to talk about filmmaking specifically, so I decided to make one solely to talk about the process of filmmaking.

So.......HALLO FILMMAKAS! Anyone here a Filmmaker, short, indie, or feature? I'm currently working for a short movie in a film festival, thanks to the florida film institute.

http://flfilminstitute.com/

The one I'm working for (I co-wrote, slated, and advertising it...and by that I mean making the trailers.) basically has a message about cancer, music, friendship, and love.

EDIT: Oh and I mean the process of Filmmaking is what I want to talk about.

I've been using The Movies to make short films lately, cause I need to replace my film camera.

My new mic is supposed to be here tomorrow, so I can start recording the dialogue. :D

Boom or something else? All we've used was a boomer, even for V.O.'s.

It's a lapel mic. That's easiest for me to use with my computer, which is what it'll be hooked to.

Heh, well careful to keep it out of camera view! Looks like it will be easier to hide though. The one we used was a bitch to keep it hidden.

Well, since what I'm doing right now are essentially animations, I don't have to worry about that so much at the moment.

Someone said the magical "A" word!

Just finished a Bachelor of Screen Production, and I am now doing a Masters in Animation. I am loving it so much. I have access to a motion capture studio :x

So... who was all like, "DAMN FUCKING STRAIGHT YOU TELL HIM TO GET OFF THAT SET WHEN THE CAMERA'S ROLLING!!!" when Christian Bale flipped out on the Terminator Salvation set? I have worked with directors who walk on set. Yes, even after they called "Action!".

I've been considering making some (very) short animations with Poser, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

(Not to mention that I've never tried it before and don't really know how yet.)

Today I made a two second claymation!

It involved two bottles made of plasticine leaping into the air, crashing together and forming an entirely new bottle out of the debris.

I plan to get a copy of it, and post it somewhere on the internets.

I support bale...most of it. I mean, who the hell walks into the shot when they're filming? Come on!

Not a filmmaker myself, but because when I was still with my ex- when she was going for her film degree at Temple University I have been in many student films! :D And for some reason, she always decided I had to grow out my beard for half of them... *scritch, scratch* It was always so itchy! But I didn't have much choice being her fiancee at the time AND the only person she knew with drama experience.

Personally the funniest experience for me was when she did a little 10 minute drama piece involving a murder. The murder victim was played by her mom (and two off duty police officers volunteered to help!) and since I was her oldest male friend... I played the dead woman's ex-husband. :)) It was bad enough that people made jokes because I was ten years older than my ex-, and ten years younger than her mom... but to actually place me in a film role where I was once married to her mom? Wow. :D

A filmmaker is anyone who participates in making a film, but dude....that's one kinky ex.

Sadly, not as kinky as I'd like... but that's a story for the 'sexual experiences' thread. ;) :))

My first documentary, though I give a tip to everyone: Never do free-hand recording in a windy day.
