A wild Ruby appears!

And glad to see Sandra is apparently being a success back home.

I wonder if someone is pulling strings for her though.

Agreed! Although I wish there meeting could've been more than her passed out and drooling from exhaustion on Ruby's coat. Even if Ruby has enough to handle being the PA for Dillon and Amber she could at the very least track down her former employers as well as Dark Matter Games. It would also be fun to see if Dillon still holds a grudge because she slept with Matt.

Same here. While I'd like to believe that by seriously committing to being a model she's climbing the ladder it's possible Zoe is pulling some strings. I'd suspect Eva too, but with Sandra unable to contact anyone from Paris she'd never know.

The same thought came to me. It could be that they are training her "behind the scenes," maybe limiting intervention only when necessary. Maybe also the "model wanted" leaflet was "their" (it sounds so conspiracy :-) ) initiative?

I guess it's nice that Sandra is finding a groove back home that she never had before, although the strip is sort of feeling close to the X-Men film series: quite a few shared characters, but cannot feasibly connect together.

Sandra and DiDi were friends, however, it is tough to believe that they would click like the same old friends, considering how utterly self-involved DiDi was revealed to be, as well as deciding that she was gay, even though she and Sandra shared a *moment* of being "two straight women with serious boundary issues" (pardon if it is paraphrased too much). I guess such things could've been glossed over, or maybe Sandra's return happened before DiDi became involved in the wrestling world?

First off, can I just say how much I like panel 1?

(A lot.)

The Ruby cameo is appreciated, of course. Even if it does reinforce her low-key butt monkey status -- she shouldn't have to wipe drool off that smart jacket. Though I guess, if one uses urban public transport, drool is getting off lightly.

Yahbutt... It really shouldn't take Ruby's Google skills to track down Sandra's Paris friends; anybody who knows what a search engine is and has half a brain could do it in three minutes. But I guess that Ruby is the only character in the setting who's been shown to know what a search engine is, and one of the few with half a brain.

I think that would be missing the point; Zoé wants her to learn that modelling involves hard work, not just irresponsible piss-artistry, and this sequence has to be about her putting the work in for herself.

Though logically this must be taking her a few weeks; I wonder if things will have moved on accordingly for the other characters in Paris when she gets back there, or will the orcs still be torturing the halfling in the 10' x 10' room?

Can I just say I'm in love with how you draw Ruby, Eisu? 10/10

That being said, I wonder how much time's passing during these strips. Scoring gigs sounds like a lengthy thing, considering the selection process and all.

So, this is the ending, right? Can't say I'm satisfied with it. A lot of plots will remain forever in limbo now.

Sadly, I suspect that even if Zoe was not pulling strings here, she would in fact take credit for all of Sandra's success if she and Sandra ever crossed paths again. Zoe's ego seems too large to admit to anything else.

I feel like the inclusion of Ruby was fan service specifically for Spidrift! 😁

This strip is full of win, the panels with Sandra modelling are amazing and the one with the drooling is funny, specially with Ruby being the receptor of said drooling :))

Nah. Zoé has a clear sense of her own worth, but she’s not dishonest or especially vain. She’s rarely been shown boasting about anything, and never about anything she couldn’t legitimately claim.

I've been bored, indifferent, and frustrated with this comic for a very long time, like Ma3. But these last few panels have been great. No dumb bullshit, no comedy propelled by people acting like aliens who don't understand how humans behave in society. Character development, someone hitting their low point and climbing back through hard work. This is great.

It's also the kind of thing that doesn't fit neatly into episodic content, which is the biggest reason I have such disdain for episodic fiction.

BTW, Panel 3 reminded me about 2 Barney's (from How I Met your Mother) riddles

"What piece of women’s attire, most stokes a man’s desire? A sundress".
"What lightweight outfit, pink or white, makes the front of my slacks abnormally tight? A sundress".
