Oh dear, Marie's going all Dick van Dyke on us again. "That nasty bird"? Has anyone heard a Briton under the age of 65 use that sort of terminology? And really, I think, even in the '60s, "bird" was mostly something men called women. And Marie eems to have forgotten the thing from that night that she should remember best - Eva threatening her.

Still, the horticultural vandalism is effective.

It really is quite the grip, she really must be a Super-model. Eh? Eh?

I'll see myself out.

@Spidrift

It is an odd choice of words, least she didn't bust out dame.

Also selective memory for plots sake? My recollection is a bit foggy though, had Marie been imbibing that night? A shocking display for a minor of course, but it is France.

She is indeed a wonderful artist who could doubtless turn her hand to anything, but from what I've seen, I don't get the feeling that she's very interested in depicting some of those bits in all their wrinkly Lovecraftian glory.

"Dame" is an Americanism. "Bird" is the writer trying to make Marie sound English and, I'm afraid, not getting it right.

Ah, sorry. I was remembering Eva's threat to crush Sandra, and confusing which protégé was being threatened in that strip.

Ahh, Eva just gave Zoe a compliment, further subconsciously cementing in Marie's mind how cool she is...Stop making your goal harder!

(excpt please do i love seeing "smart villains" end up acting like buffoons to their own embarrassment)

Marie already admires Zoé, a lot. Eva can exploit her, but she can't really hope to recruit her willingly to her side. She has to be sneaky - and make it sound like she's cool with Zoé.

So, no mistake there, she's on target.

Possibly a deliberate affection on Marie's part?

That I couldn't tell you. I know in my area back in the '70s, for whatever reason, talking with an Italian accent was the fad, so anything is possible. Perhaps she wants to accentuate her Englishness for all the French folks?

Is Marie English? I never really gave much thought to where all the characters are from, and if it was mentioned apparently it completely slipped my mind.
