There was the one Oberon administered to Titania, which is what I was thinking of, and was it a potion that made Bottom an ass? Certainly it was magic. One caused the Thane of Glamis to see prophetic visions.

I'm not sure that the witches in Macbeth explicitly administered any potions. Though the McKellen/Dench version has the "eye of newt" brew used that way, which works.

But anyway, none of those were sex-change potions, which is what I thought we were talking about.

Alex isn't clueless just very committed to his gaming passion.

Yes, and one hopes that the women in his life, especially Marie, hang in there with him. Because at present he's likeable, if a little dorky -- but if he doesn't get a bit more of a clue about life outside of video games soon, he may collapse into Gary-ish desocialised hopelessness.

The difference between Alex and Gary is the former could care less about having a girlfriend. Sure he idolizes Sandra, but he doesn't lament not having a girlfriend.

On the other hand, he not only feels attracted to Sandra, and enjoyed the feeling of waking up with her; he's clearly enjoying the current osculation. It seems that he has a perfectly functional set of sexual urges; they're just less intense than those of most Ma3 characters, perhaps being sublimated beneath the video game obsessions. And if they're never assuaged, I reckon that he'll begin to notice the frustration eventually. If he makes it to 29 without ever having a girlfriend, I think he'll become as unhappy as Gary was.

And even if he's downright asexual, he still seems to enjoy basic social interactions. If he sinks too much into dorkitude, he'll be in danger of turning into a shut-in.
