Most boys his age would be overwhelmed with having an up close and personal task of body painting their idol so I highly doubt it's low self esteem. For all the other girls in his life he's just oblivious to their advances. Now maybe it's because he doesn't think any of them would desire him in which case he has self esteem problems as low as Lavali's, but in Marie's case he sees her as a childhood friend and thinks that's as far as their relationship has progressed. And in Ingrid's he's only just met her and she's foreign so how is he to know that she's interested?

Nice to see Penelope is back. I think they're going to need someone clever to help out now that Eloise and Nadine have found who they've been looking for.
