No, the slam refers to prison old chap, he's referencing the Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick says "Then you got to get sent to a slam, where they tell you you'll never see daylight again. You dig up a doctor, and you pay him 20 menthol Kools to do a surgical shine job on your eyeballs."

Well....cross-eyed would affect her ablity to drive. so can't be that. Maybe some sort of discoloring or some scar left from an infection?

My bet is simply something that wouldn't bother most people (and some would find cool) such as heterochromia. Given she works in the modelling world, peripherally, anything that doesn't fit traditional beauty is normally looked down on... just like freckles normally are among Sandra's competition, which would also explain her infatuation with them.
