Gary didn't deserve to get slapped (Nobody does. That shit hurts), he needed to get slapped for the sake of the joke. Don't over-analyze and over-discuss this strip until the whole thing ends up so far up it's own ass you all lose sight of the fact that this is supposed to be a gag.

Also, the person cracking open the Can O' Pain on you may not care about legal consequences for doing so; in fact calling the law on certain people is liable to make things even worse, since that person or his/her friends may retaliate against you, possibly with even greater violence. The difference between most of us on this forum and those people is that since we would strongly prefer NOT to go to jail, we are unlikely to respond violently to someone saying something that pisses us off.

As for the comic, I still maintain that Gary deserved that slap. Maybe next time he'll remember the pain and have a bit more clue. Maybe. Since it's a comic strip and not at ALL representative of real life (a geek like Gary getting to bang someone like Senna? REALLY? Not in our universe!), let's just accept it as fictional slapstick and move on, 'k?

Hapless geeks to manage to score their fair share of world class hotties. Especially thanks to the rise in .com corporations.

Gary is no .com millionaire. He can't even afford a decent apartment without roommates. Guys like that don't get to bang hot successful models, not in Real Life (TM).

Slapstick is really lost on you guys, huh?

I pray for your hearts if you ever get ahold of a Three Stooges flick.

I don't mind slapstick, in moderation. Three Stooges is just too much of it for me, while the Ma3 family of comics gets it just right. I'm just sad that women are hardly ever the victims of slapstick these days - a creator apparently can't do it without incurring the wrath of a significant portion of the audience.

Note my last sentence there. I'm not saying get rid of slapstick, I'm saying women should be on the receiving end more often. Equal opportunity and all that.

I suspect that certain parts of the MA3-verse are set some 50-60 years in the past, when a lady was expected to defend her honour with a slap to the face. (and a cane was an educational accessory)

Well, in this case, most of Yuki "violent behaviour" would fall under slapstick. But given it's about the groin, people find it much less funny. Though my Mà3's personal best strip will probably forever be this one. "I mean, really" :))

I remember people outraged at Yuki throwing a bell at Sonya and taking as proof of how evil she is. :ymsigh:

Pointless arguing is one of the three pillars upon which the Internet is built. The other two are of course cat pictures and porn.

The ball-kicking was funny to start with. It was hilarious at the start. Then it got beaten to death. Yuki's behavior isn't handled like slapstick. You have a snapshot of a trigger followed by a snapshot of the aftermath of a psychotic episode. You see, "Tentacles!" and the next thing you see is a demolished store.

To compare, if this were a Yuki scenario, we would be looking at the street scene and we would see busted out windows on cars, a water spout where a fire hydrant used to be, and an overturned dumpster.

With Senna, we see Gary back with Sandra saying something to the tune of, "Well that didn't go well." There's no collateral damage, it's just Gary.

How photos are sent is just technology, and rock and roll just one in a long line of dangerous music - jazz, jive, r&r, heavy metal, punk, rap. The change in attitude to minor violence is a new thing, after millennia of being OK with it, and not everyone's templates and stereotypes have caught up with ithe change.

It could've been worse. Yuki's signature exit is a kick to the crotch so Gary was lucky this time.

Senna never had much of a romantic attachment for Gary so if she returns it will be to win him back to satisfy her own ego or outclass Sandra with a new modeling gig.
