Before this strip, I wouldn't have thought it, but now, Amber just needs to introduce Ruby to gay porn, maybe even take her to the right clubs so she can sit back, have a drink and enjoy the show.

Ruby keeps trying to say that her interest in yaoi is "respectable", and critiquing it in an educated, analytical way. Zii convinced her to admit to her own tastes, but still, I don't think that she wants to see it as "porn"; it's got to be a bit romantic or plausibly artistic. There's huge amounts of self-deception in that, obviously, but she's still on a journey, and right now, I reckon that she needs the fig leaf. If you showed her flat-out porn, she'd recoil from the perceived crudity.

(And because she does still need some degree of emotional deniability, I reckon that Andy is going to be introduced to Rudy at some point.)

She may have to wait awhile, unless she wants to explain Andy's bruises and black eye he suddenly and mysteriously acquired after his latest visit to the shoot. :))

I wouldn't say so. But this is the Giziverse - and the same part of it that contains Ma3. So...

One does have to wonder (a) why and how Andy was allowed into a working studios mid-filming, and (b) why nobody told him that you do NOT making a noise during shooting. More to the point, is the comic realistic enough to cover that, or will it just be skated over?
in that much realism, the agents and hangers-on like Ruby would be shunted off and confined to dressing rooms and the like

well, if their gay superhero is literally named "The Gay Defender", we probably shouldn't expect too much from them in the way of dialogue.

the question is though, is he a generalized defender who just happens to be gay himself, or does he only defend gays?

Well, good porn is both romantic and artistic. Though you can't show all that with the live actors, since good actors don't wanna work in porn and porn actors don't want to act good.

Given that his and his boyfriend's life stories seem mysteriously to echo Dillon's and Ray's, I suspect that he mostly looks fabulous. But... in those tights?

Which reminds us of another thing about Ruby; if something is specifically labelled as "porn", that puts it in the same category as what Amber used to do, including the video that traumatised Ruby at that party. So Ruby will automatically despise it.

Pity he is not named Gayman. Actual name: Neil.

...it's ok, I'll go quietly, no need for the taser, officer.

If his superhero name is "The Gay Defender" are we sure she's not watching the making of a porn? Sounds like a hero name you'd hear in a porn. :p

There's a certain type of comedy wherein any movie or play or whatever seen within the story would, in the real world, be really horrible garbage, with semi-literate writing and wildly over-the-top direction and acting. It's kind of sticking a big flag up saying "ACTING".

The funny thing is, the actual porn we see referenced in these comics looks quite unrealistically smart, with literate scripts and clever parody concepts and titles.
