Yes, for once I agree with Andy; making Ruby look happy is definitely worth the effort. And it looks like making her act happy is worth something, too. Though she may have to dial back on her yaoi fantasies a little to make this relationship really right for both of them; the monster that Dillon created could cause trouble yet.

But yes, definite progress for her there. She may just have embarrassed herself a little, but basically she's looking comfortable in her skin and enjoying hanging out with a guy while there's a bit of sexual chemistry in the air, while her business brain is fizzing - and she's uniting her avocation and her vocation, which is always a good trick.

Well, she's kind of hoping that she is. The question is how well exploited that fandom is in the Ma3 universe. In reality, Ruby might well find that she's moving into a busy line of business - but the comic may well allow her to have found an unoccupied niche. Of course, even then, monetising it effectively could well be good for a fair few jokes yet.

Yeah, I spotted that possibility a while back. The interesting question if that happens, though, is whether Amber then has the guts to finally come out about her own career, and take some of the heat off Ruby - or whether she leaves Ruby in the lurch because she "doesn't want to upset them further".

"Astute" is not a word that I'd associate with Andy. This was a complete accident, after all. But he does keep saying that he wants to make her happy, so he might end up as her gopher. Which would mean that he was being exploited, but would also mean that he was around Ruby a lot - and she might then just realise that she likes his company.

Though the immediate question is where this current scene goes. Ruby will probably back off blushing like crazy, but she might just admit that, well, yes, she quite enjoyed that thing they just did, and even give it another go.

That's Ruby's current path to the dark side. She's using yaoi fantasies as a fairly safe means to handle her awakening libido, which would be okay, but given her growing manipulative abilities and Andy's obligingness, she might turn a bit sleazy - Zii without the good-quality participative sex - if she gets locked into the wrong pattern.

I think at that point Ruby would flip on Amber faster than an arrested mobster trying to avoid long jail time by 'ratting out' his fellow gangsters. Ruby's parents being critical of her business venture would be the last straw for her, I can see her response now; "Oh, you think I'm peddling smut?? Well your other daughter is one of the top smut actresses in the industry!"

Furthermore, for bonus frustration points, her parents won't believe her. They'll think she's trying to deflect blame onto her 'perfect, beautiful' sister.

Actually, Ruby may show an admirable grasp of the rules of omerta. Something might push her over the edge, especially if Amber has been a trying boss that week, but she's held out for quite a few years so far. She has a mafioso-grade grasp of the principles of family.

And anyhow, all this is partly assuming that the idiot parents do favour Amber as much as Ruby thinks, of course, which we still haven't had confirmed. (I'm still guessing that they may talk up each of the girls to the other, in a ham-fisted attempt to be fair.) And if Ruby gives them chapter and verse on Amber's porn career, well, denial can only go so far, even in a comedy.

(It's not like Ruby wouldn't understand her parents' first reaction, either. Judging by today's strip, she's still trying to convince herself that the yaoi thing is "respectable".)

But we're spinning onager speculation here. This hypothetical scene could lead all sorts of places, but it is still hypothetical.

If that needs compounding for maximum Ruby embarrassment; at some point in the near future, Ruby starts thinking "Oh hell, I enjoyed that kiss. And I'm an adult woman, and Andy seems like enough of a gentleman, and the stress is getting to me." And then she drags Andy to the nearest bedroom. And then her parents drop by on a surprise visit.
