:D Guess I should've said "stark-raving mad" which was what I really meant.
Spidrift wrote:But I don't think that Dillon has to turn into a Senna-esque monster for this to get entertaining. He'll doubtless be a bit of a flake, and there may be days when Ruby is annoyed by his disorganisation, but if she actually gets seriously angry, I think he'll notice eventually and try to make up with her. He isn't as casually heartless as Senna or Nathan.
You're probably right. But I'm thinking DIllon has most likely never had a PA before. Having a personal "minion" at one's beck and call can make people go a bit power-mad, and even though Ruby would ordinarily not put up with that kind of thing for long, Dillon may be able to keep her temper in check with promises of getting to see the live filming of his and Ray's next love scene.
Spidrift wrote:Plus, well, Ruby isn't mean either, but she is surely a bit anal retentive. Dillon may be the one who suffers when she goes all Tatiana on his ass - especially once it becomes clear that he does really benefit from her assistance.
:)) I would SO love to see that. Classic flipping of the tyrannical boss-longsuffering PA script. With Dillon feeling obligated to live with it because, dammit, his life really IS working better with Ruby cracking that whip! :ymdevil:

Rationing out views of his smooth-skinned body and romantic acting technique as a way of keeping Ruby in line seems slightly too coldly manipulative for Dillon, but might not be off the scale. Anyhow, I assume that if he goes power mad after acquiring a minion, it'll be in a very, very diva-ish way...

Conversely, of course, the big unknown risk for him in giving Ruby any power over his life is that it'll facilitate whatever cunning plan she's got on behalf of Julian.

What makes this an interesting development is that, given that Ruby seems to have a talent for pictures and good framing thereof, according to Amber, taking this job could be an opportunity for her to see the workings of a movie set. It could help her find a new calling. I mean, she certainly seemed both flustered and flattered by Amber's comment, which could be due to their difficult relationship, but maybe not only.

She also literally dreams of being a movie director; we have the bonus PDF story to prove it. Ruby getting to work in the movie business is pretty obviously part of her long-term story.

She still needs the beret, though.

Ah, I haven't read it. Frankly, besides what seems to be a natural talent for pictures, she has plenty of interesting qualities for the job. She has a pretty good understanding of people and what motivates them (if you put aside a deep blind spot shaped like Ruby), she knows how to be authoritative when she knows exactly what she wants. Heck, even her training in business bears useful transferable skills, if only to handle producers.

Well, she seemingly used to think that most women had no real interest in sex. However, given that she's now mostly come to terms with her own interest in yaoi, she's presumably revised that opinion.

Yeah, character development. Who'd have thought it?

Of course, that means that she currently defines female interest in sex largely in terms of voyeurism (though she didn't blink when Zii mentioned how she got to take those pictures) - which kind of works for a prospective movie director, but isn't a complete result for the rest of her life. Frankly, she's using the yaoi to sublimate the urges that she'd still regard as undignified to act on. Extending the acceptance to actual heterosexual snuggling may be an interesting but lengthy process.

Her interacting with some actors (in particular, female actors who never went into porn) could help her relax a bit in the long run. Actors are often pretty laid-back folks, but in ways she might not find "slutty", for lack of a better term. I can easily imagine her making a bunch of new friends, perhaps even a close female friend (who doesn't need to be an actor, by the way). It could take some mild hazing and good-natured snark to get past her (already dented) defenses, but I can see it happening.

Oh of course, this is Dillon we're talking about. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes before Ruby's ready to strangle him.

:ymdevil: Ah yes, just one of the the glorious hijinks that could ensue. :ymdevil: It'd be hilarious if Dillon is the first one to regret his employment arrangement with Ruby.

I'm sure that Dillon can do a very stirring rendition of "Je Ne Regrette Rien".

Given what a diva Dillon can be it is surprising that he did not hire a personal assistant sooner. Probably because as Spidrift says his flaky tendencies too often distracted him or maybe he did hire people, but none of them lasted a week.

Or he just couldn't afford it until recently. His career has just taken off this last month or two, after all. I bet that in his head, he's still switching from "wide-eyed boy in the big city" to "rising star".

Perhaps. Considering just how slow time passes in the universe of Menage a 3, Sandra on the Rocks, and Sticky Dilly Buns it is difficult to estimate how much time has actually passed.

Enough time to take a TV film from first meetings to wrap. Assuming that it is just the one film that we're talking about. Although we know that not much more than a year has passed in Ma3 since the start, because Gary has gone from 29 to 30.

Putting those two elements together ... that film didn't take very long to shoot, it seems. Actually, time in these comics is pretty messed up (analysis on request); "a month or two" may be an underestimate, to be honest, but I'm pretty sure that Dillon's career really is only just taking off.

(Ditto Amber's, for that matter. It's pretty clear that none of her non-porn movies has been screened yet; she didn't expect Ruby to know about them. Actually, that should be a major plot event sometime, not least because there's a good chance that it will lead to the Larose parents finding out about Amber's porn career.)

Ah, I see, a match made in development hell! :ymdevil:

So, Ruby will become our new Tatiana? Except going for yaoi, not BDSM (as she imagines it...)? And, yes, clearly Ruby does not have a massive crush on Dillon, but I recall she HAS become more aware of Dillon as a very attractive guy...
