Cute to force her fantasies on others? Sad that it might not unfold the way it is in her lust-addled head? If this was a male trying to push a barely legal girl together with her former babysitter because he REALLY likes the idea of lesbians together would it have the same reaction?Spidrift wrote:Yes, somebody hose Ruby down quick. And while her attempts to play Cupid here are still, well, morally wrong, I'd say that they've gone past objectionable to just kind of cute, really. The very probable comedown may even be rather sad.
Also, the stuff about sports suggests to me that my guess about a tie-in to Ray's back-story may be right. Julian will surely recognise the name of a somewhat successful professional sportsman from his home town.
But anyway - cooking and candles? I had the impression that this was still morning. Dillon and Julian may have to slow her down a bit.

Julian reminds me of the teenagers at the NHL draft going on right now. Well, let me clarify. The NHL prospects look like teenagers - acne, baby fat and all. They're just enormous (often 6 foot or over, and in the 200 pound range) teenagers, especially since some of them hit their growth spurt early and hit 'NHL-size' (said 6 foot, near-on 200 pounds) at 15. Which is absolutely unlike any actual teenagers I remember from high school.

You forget the power dynamic. If the genders were reversed we would not think highly of Ruby, but the fact of the matter is males have more rights and privileges that females do since birth. While this strip is largely lighthearted I think another reason Ruby has repressed her desires for so long is the reality that men can have a healthy sex life and no one thinks anything of it while women get slut shammed.Milkmaid79 wrote:Cute to force her fantasies on others? If you doubt me I would refer you to the message board concerning this strip: http://www.stickydillybuns.com/strips-s ... believable If all things were equal then I would be quicker to criticize Ruby's behavior, but it is not so I cut her some slack. Moreover, she is experiencing a sexual awakening that should have happened sooner. Yes it means acting inappropriate as she finds her way, but if she bottles it up for too long she might turn into her college professor albeit with an eye for the men.

the truth is that it does not matter genders and such, EVERYONE should respect everyone, and EVERYONE should be educated about respect and about channeling their curiosity with willing participants, never force others, NO MATTER Genders involved
and most of us have to learn never to assume
too many times those "allowing you to do stuff" are simply paralyzed from saying no as someone assumes "they want to" and take actions

Playing the gender reversal game is generally fairly dumb and misleading, but if anyone's going to do it, then do it properly. We'd have Rudy, a twenty-one-year-old virgin nerd who's recently noticed his own sexual interests and been reading a lot of lesbian erotica manga (I'm sure that there's a word for that); Dilla, a late 20s lesbian, totally comfortable in her identity if a bit of a stereotype dumb blonde sometimes, who's made a friend of Rudy; and Julia, a good-looking and self-assured 18-year-old.brasca wrote:You forget the power dynamic. So Rudy tries to steer Dilla and Julia together, playing Cupid very badly because of his runaway fantasies. In my book, the correct response is rolled eyes and a yell at Rudy of "stop being a hormone-addled twit, you doofus". One could hope that Dilla would chew Rudy out for treating her and Julia as fantasy figures, but if Dilla has Dillon's full exhibitionist tendencies, that might be too much to hope for. Anyhow, yep, the comedy would still work fine, in my book.
And I really shouldn't go replying to people who are replying to people who I've got killlfiled...

How about a male Zii secretly taking pictures of a nude female Gary while she sleeps (after VERY recently moving in IIRC)? Still funny?Spidrift wrote:Playing the gender reversal game is generally fairly dumb and misleading, but if anyone's going to do it, then do it properly. As for chewing out, it hasn't happened to Ruby yet- she's always on the 'dishing out' end. Look at all the grief heaped upon Amber for daring to live her life in a manner in which her sister (who invited herself in) doesn't approve.
How fortunate that the software covers your eyes so you don't have to see anything that displeases you-if only the rest of reality worked that way, eh?

Re: 26-06-15 I am sure you did
There is a great degree of difference between secretly taking pictures of Gary nude and two men kissing one of whom wants to raise his acting profile. Moreover, Ruby told Ray about the pictures and I doubt Zii ever did the same. While I agree that Ruby is starting to cross the line and for her own sake someone should tell her as much she is behaving far more ethically than Zii.
And if Amber's former line of work was socially acceptable then she would have told her parents years ago. It is not and so she and her sister Ruby have kept it a secret. Personally I could care less if someone was involved in pornography, but it is not without consequences. Aside from the secrets Amber seems to have a problem with forming relationships. Ruby can see that and seems to fear any kind of release could lead down the road her sister took. Unfortunately, there is no one who can really set her straight on this except Dillon who is often oblivious about this.

Click on the person's name to go to their profile, then click on "Add Foe", and you no longer have to read their posts. It can save a lot of irritation, and reduces the temptation to feed the trolls. Life really is too short.
