Here's hoping he has.

But then, it's Dillon - and the guy is weak when the charm is laid on thick.

Really hope there wasn't some fine print in that contract that Amber somehow missed that Nathan can hold over their heads.
Well I'm assuming Ruby can read legalese. I know she's got an MBA and not a lawyer, but she probably studied something about contract law so maybe she can find a loophole or browbeat Dillon for signing something like that. Of course she also might find out what Amber and Dillon did to get that place of theirs.

And I hope Dillon realizes that it's not too enjoyable when someone else violates his privacy whenever they want. After all the times with Gary it's about time this happened.

Cool! I'm up to my thousandth post! \:d/

The first problem is that Gary never really complained enough. That sort of toleration has left Dillon with a crappy incomplete understanding of people; he thinks that everyone else is really an exhibitionist extrovert like he is, or would be if they just relaxed. Nathan may be annoying him now, but that's because Nathan is a presumptuous jerk, not because Nathan is invading his privacy.

Until he gets the hang of other people who aren't like himself, Dillon will never actually understand a private introvert like Ruby.

I'm sort of relieved to see Nathan back, to be honest. We knew Amber and Dillon had some contractual roles in his productions; it was weird how he never seemed to be on hand before.

Esther Fan Club Begin! I'm kidding, although curious to see how often her tag comes up.

We really hadn't seen much of the film work, full stop. And it's not like you expect to see a producer on set from day to day; he's supposed to be doing back-office business, not meddling with the direction.

Also, I kind of assumed that Nathan might be a bit embarrassed to be around Dillon or Amber, since they scammed him and he has no hold on them any more. But that was probably optimistic.

I loathe that sleaze. =_= I hope he doesn't become an important part of the next arc.

He's a rather one-dimensional character at present, and it's hard to see how he could be made more complex while keeping things funny. So if he does play a large part in the plot - well, think of him as an annoying piece of furniture, not a character to worry about.

I'm not worried about Nathan, I'm worried about the people he happens to.

Dillon has now been warned against him twice over, and Amber got his number long ago. They should be able to handle him.

Other people may yet have problems with him, of course, without having been warned. But hey, plot. And so far we've only seen him taking advantage of people who really, really ought to have known better to begin with. As villains go, he's really rather dumb and unimpressive.

The main cast isn't exactly a bunch of brainiacs, either. :-\ Even Ruby, who should have reasonably good smarts, is weakened by naiveté and inexperience...

I rather hope that Ruby never learns the history of Dillon's relationship with Nathan, actually. I mean, even before the apartment lease business. She clearly finds dealing with his stupidity stressful, and the thought of anyone falling for "Go to bed with me and I'll make you a star" would probably cause her physical pain.

That's the thing with Ruby's naiveté, of course. She has to fall back on clichés and stereotypes - "Men just want to get into a girl's pants" and all that - because she lacks direct experience. Which isn't great, but in a comic which occasionally runs with stereotypes for comedy - such as Nathan the sleazy casting couch jockey - it means she may sometimes look usefully genre savvy.

As for Nathan successfully using the casting couch - I'm not sure that every character, even in these comics, would be dumb enough to fall for it. I kind of assumed that Amber had a pretty good idea what Nathan was doing all along - but she still thinks in porn industry mode, remember, so she'd just take that as read. It was only when Nathan crossed some kind of line with the twincest fantasy stuff that she really took against him.

I just hope Ruby doesn't get in a situation where Nathan tries to put the moves on her.

Remember, he was using the casting couch on her sister at the same time he was using it on DIllon...

I hope not for Nathan's sake. I still suspect that she carries a can of mace somewhere on her person.

That kind of crap is simply the sort of thing that Ruby expects from men - and that she's probably primed to handle fairly well from '70s TV shows. Dillon wrong-foots her by forcing her to be sympathetic and polite. A straightforward chance to say "no" with some force could verge on a relief for her.

think Dill might call nathan on the Oprah thing, and Nathan will "quote" springer or Dr. Phill, or might use something from Freud

Freud's fun. According to one book I read, he refused to try to "cure" gay clients because he felt that there was no way to "cure" homosexuality.
