Awww, Ruby, why not ? I'm sure you'd look very good as young androgynous guy ! Guess it's for another time.
It seems Ruby's absurd prudishness bites her once again. Though I admit being outed as a yaoi-fangirl would be embarassing . And that her imagined reaction of Dillon is not that far from reality. She figured him out quite well.
Is it me or Ruby's chest is drawn bigger in this strip ? Like she gained one or two cups ?
I don't remember this "Angel is just a childhood friend" thing. Has it been mentioned earlier or is it some offscreen lie from Jerzy or even fantasy of Dillon. Last thing I remember is Jerzy saying whatever ther was between him and Angel, it's now over.

Now I know I despise Dillon. The little bastard uses air quotes.
Having his head repeatedly slammed in a door would be too good for him.
Anyway, if Sonya bounces Peggy into her equally daft plan, that's three wigs in the audience, plus a bunch of people who won't be fooled by them. Some of the conversations in the ladies are going to be worth bugging.

She really doesn't have the figure or, more importantly, the confidence for it.Bambikles wrote:Awww, Ruby, why not ? I'm sure you'd look very good as young androgynous guy !
She's always been drawn as having a perfectly reasonable, feminine figure, although she's on the slim side; she just doesn't emphasise it. She goes for boxy jackets and granny nightdresses and athletic swimsuits. She's wearing a slightly closer-fitted sweater here (emphasising that she hasn't got an androgynous figure, so passing as male would be a big project for her), but I don't see any great expansion in her bust. See, for example, how she looked in that dress, with no jacket over it.Bambikles wrote:Is it me or Ruby's chest is drawn bigger in this strip ? Like she gained one or two cups ?
Jerzy keeps saying Angel is an old friend (his "oldest", even); it's typical Dillon to inflate that into "childhood".Bambikles wrote:I don't remember this "Angel is just a childhood friend" thing.

She might dress up like a guy if she really wants to not be seen and it seems somewhat plausible since we already have a woman going in disguise as a different woman and now a man disguised as a woman so I could see her going as a man.
Funny thing about Ruby is she is astute enough to know that fujoshi is something Dillon would be an expert on, but illogically thinks that concert goers would care.

Oh Lord, please tell me this isn't going to be one of those situations where Gary is going to find himself drawn to Ruby; but freak out about his sexuality again because he'll believe she's a dude.
Here's hoping for a more fun/cute outcome in which that Angel sees threw Ruby's disguise and shows it's no big deal; revealing her own perfected cross dressing style.

Actually, Jerzy refers to Angel as such, himself.Spidrift wrote:Jerzy keeps saying Angel is an old friend (his "oldest", even); it's typical Dillon to inflate that into "childhood".Bambikles wrote:I don't remember this "Angel is just a childhood friend" thing.

Thanks for finding that, Fluffy, I knew Jerzy's had said it somewhere, no I don't need to go look for myself.
Also, I googled "fear of air quotes" but came up empty. Spidrift might be worth a publication.
Looking forward to what Rubio looks like, myself.

Man, don't ever read Fans: we had those characters use air quotes like every other story. In fact, I've used them myself, so maybe I'll just flee the thread here.Spidrift wrote:Now I know I despise Dillon. The little bastard uses air quotes.

This is Dillon and Spidrift, TC, so it doesn't necessarily signify. Dillon could save puppies for burning busses going over cliffs and help old ladies across the street in the middle of Death Race and Spidrift would still despise him.

Re: 28-03-14 Glad you are seeing it my way
It looks to me like she's going in disguise but as a (different) woman. She's apparently prepared to be taken for a lesbian, if it saves her from being recognised as herself.Fluffy wrote:Oh Lord, please tell me this isn't going to be one of those situations where Gary is going to find himself drawn to Ruby; but freak out about his sexuality again because he'll believe she's a dude.
Gary, though, doesn't seem to suffer much from random romantic crushes. He's certainly attracted to attractive women in general, having rather active hormones, and even if the "woman" is really Dillon in drag; the attraction may be amplified if the woman is emphatically attractive (DiDi), attuned to his personal fantasies (Yuki), his favourite porn star (Amber), or model-grade gorgeous and naked at the time (Senna), but we haven't seen him suddenly sighing over random passably attractive, normally dressed women, unless the situation gets sexual anyway. So even if he collides with Ruby, I don't think he'll be especially drawn to her in the confusion of the concert, however she's dressed.
And let's face it, Gary isn't much of a romantic. He still needs to get a lot of pent-up sexual desire out of his head before he can move on to sighing and yearning.
(And if he ever did find himself drawn to someone who was female but passing as male... Well, he's been over that sort of thing in the conversation with Matt, as he might even remember.)
Angel might well recognise her at close quarters; as you say, who better to see through disguises than someone who plays with identities? But recognising someone at a distance, in a darkened audience, from a spotlit stage is pretty unlikely, so Ruby's paranoia is probably unjustified here. Barring weird accidents, of course, and those happen all the time in this comic.Fluffy wrote:Here's hoping for a more fun/cute outcome in which that Angel sees threw Ruby's disguise and shows it's no big deal; revealing her own perfected cross dressing style.
Amber should see through her disguise, of course; sisters should know each others' faces. But then, Amber should also recognise "Dilla"; she might well guess a large part of what's going on, although she'd be puzzled by the rest. Jerzy might or might not know her, depending on proximity, but then Dillon should be keeping a little distance from Jerzy, if he has any sense (hah!); his own disguise will have its limits. I don't think that there'll be anyone else there who'd know Ruby; even if Zii used to know her, that was a long time ago.
Unless there's any danger that Dillon ends up making Ruby look too much like Amber... But no, she doesn't have the figure for that.
Right you are; I missed that one frame. One does wonder if it's literally true, or just Jerzy trying to emphasise that this is an old friendship that isn't easily dropped.Fluffy wrote:Actually, Jerzy refers to Angel as such, himself.Spidrift wrote:Jerzy keeps saying Angel is an old friend (his "oldest", even); it's typical Dillon to inflate that into "childhood".Bambikles wrote:I don't remember this "Angel is just a childhood friend" thing.

Just for you I'm doing "air quotes" right now in front of the monitor. It's hard to notice, but I also used Comic Sans to add insult to the injurySpidrift wrote:Let's be clear; this isn't fear, this is hatred.
