Cats are far and away my most interesting hobby too, Ruby.

Well at least Dillon isn't taking liberties with Ruby's biography.

Ruby's more frozen than [redacted] at the end of the current Disney movie

Well, she is right there in front of him, and she may be processing what she hears well enough to remember if he lies about her. But perhaps he should; it might snap her out of her current state.brasca wrote:Well at least Dillon isn't taking liberties with Ruby's biography.
Anyhow, it is kind of sweet and unusually tactful of Dillon to fill in this way. One might say that he and Andy should worry a bit more about Ruby having frozen up like this, but hey, comedy - they're just going with the script. But I hope we see Ruby reboot on Friday; three strips is about enough for the gag, and her response when she realises that she does have to do something should be interesting.
Also, the dialogue reminds me; I have no great hopes of seeing Ruby's job search on screen -- that sort of thing seems to be outside the writers' comfort zone. But it'd be nice if we did get snippets of it; seeing Ruby operating inside her comfort zone would be interesting, and we've had small hints that yes, there is a smart go-getter in there somewhere.

Can't help but feel a bit sad for Ruby. She can't have her nice conversation with charming Andy.

She'll get there eventually. Unfortunately, she never meets anyone with enough empathy to understand her problems, let alone that and the smarts to really help her through them. Fortunately, she seems to be just about strong enough to do this for herself. But yes, it's easy to feel sorry for her.

Is it sad that I figured that Dillon was having this conversation before I saw the last panel?
I feel bad for Ruby. There is no way this night ends well for her at this rate. well, maybe there is but the coffee hasn't kicked in yet for me.

It won't end well, but it needn't end terminally. As I keep saying, my bet is that when Ruby snaps out of this, Andy will get a goodnight kiss that makes up in confused enthusiasm what it lacks in grace, experience, or safety.

Of course, now I've predicted that, repeatedly, Andy will barely get a peck on the cheek before Ruby dives through the door. Possibly without opening it first.
