I think Ruby is more likely to run off and have a good cry than assault someone physically, really. She may shout a lot, but she doesn't seem physically hostile.

Given that she's a comic-strip comedy character, I'd take it as read that there's some point at which she'd haul off and at least slap someone's face. But no, she hasn't got there yet.

On the other hand, she hasn't run off to cry in the ladies yet, either. It seems to be a point of pride with her; she hates admitting or showing weakness like that. (And I hope she doesn't start doing so, actually; that faintly screwed-up grim determination is one of her appealing features for me.) I don't think we've seen her cry yet. So she bottles up her emotions until it all gets to much, and then she either shouts at someone or hits them with a wall of text. Either way, it's usually Amber who catches the worst of it, but she's let go a little at Dillon on occasion. This time round, though, it's Andy who's insulted her to her face, so he may suffer the consequences. Probably just verbal, but decibel level to be determined.

On the other hand, if he gets off lightly, it'll probably involve Ruby discovering the nature of the mistake - which, on past form, she'll then blame on Amber, for being the actual porn star. And it may need more than a cute kitten to defuse Ruby's annoyance when she gets home.

Even if she WAS the one who was a porn star, what kind of question is that to ask someone on a FIRST DATE?! Heck, one of the first things you've asked about her at all!

@Spidrift Btw I'm sure they didn't, or at least Dillion didn't, reply about her not having a job because clearly he couldn't think of anything else to ask and Ruby could easily tell him herself and most likely would add in more than Dillon would. Perhaps why she's not employed, what she wants to go into, where she's been looking, maybe even what she studied in Uni for, etc etc. All things Dillon is unlikely to know. I'm sure he hoped it would create dialog!

(I still love Dillon. Actually I love all the characters, even if I have some spite for Angel and Andy)

Whelp, that's the end of that date. Not to mention Andy's chances with Ruby; I now understand why he's single, and shall most likely remain so.

All that's left is seeing how many pieces Andy leaves the restaurant in.

Well that was about as smooth of a way to ask as any. If Ruby reacts well then these two are going to be seeing each other for a while.

I don't see that happening I see some form of fire and anger coming from her in the next strip after shock wears off. What I think is more likely is that Andy will keep asking questions along this line while Dillon and Jerzy try to stop him. Meanwhile Ruby is about to blow her top. She will probably yell that it was her sister that was in porn, getting the whole restaurant looking her way.

That is a possible scenario. This a funny situation and I hope cooler heads prevails but the rule of funny will win out.

Actually, yeah; given that the default joke of this comic is "easily embarrassed Ruby is embarrassed", it's entirely possible that she'll say something too loud in the restaurant. The problem for everyone else will then be stopping her from insisting on just going home.

Bonus points if that unfortunate waitress suffers some kind of collateral affliction in the process.

Very high density something, in fact.

We thought that the comic might be about Dillon and Amber helping Ruby to get a social life, but I'm not sure that she really needs very much help. She's inexperienced and nervous, but she's got a working brain and a sweet manner when she isn't angry or upset; she could probably handle things pretty well for herself, if she could get through a month or so of trial and error. Andy, on the other hand, looks like a hopeless case; he seems to need Jerzy Cyrano'ing him full time to even make a start.

If Dillon would just shout "Wrong roommate!", because it has to be clear to him exactly what illusion Andy is under by now, Andy could bail out, the night possibly saved, if Ruby is willing to finish a date with a guy who thought she was someone else. I'm just not seeing that happening though. Can't imagine why not.

I'm surprised they went with the explicit "taking your clothes off for the camera" instead of something that could be more easily misinterpreted, like "screwing people for money." She could take offense at the implication at BBA graduates are whores, but he could clarify that he didn't mean to imply she was one, because she isn't bothered screwing people for the benefit of other people who aren't even involved in the event leading to outrage.

Not that I'm complaining: maintaining that level of misunderstanding just drags out the story out without any resolution.

Now watch as Ruby blushes and confesses she did some nude modelling during university when funds were tight!
