As to why Angel is there - remember, he only looks like a reasonable sort of guy because we keep seeing him interacting with Dillon, who could make anybody look reasonable. His attitude towards Jerzy looks downright stalker-ish. The best bet is surely that he's still working on that.
(Edit: Or, come to think of it, we don't know who suggested this restaurant. If it was Jerzy's idea, he may have been daft enough to suggest somewhere that he and Angel both favour.)

OK.....the pet shop thing I can understand.....but I'm guessing that Jerzy Facebooked his double date arrangement and Angel decided to crash it.
It looks like Angel's a stalker who refuses to get over the one who got away. Kind of like how Yuki was until Gary's patience kindness and awkwardness won her over.
In the back of my mind, I assume if/when Gary shows up in this comic continuity, Angel will fall head over heels for him, leading Dillon to act out of jealousy.
