By the way, Arte, we've gone a page and a half without you quoting the appropriate Steve riff from Coupling. Are you feeling okay?

you mean this quote:
Plus, Karen Gillian is kind of distracting
I've been a bit distracted. I am, however, feeling very good lately because it turns out that I wasn't getting enough estrogens and now I feel REALLY good.Jill: [about the film "Lesbian Spank Inferno"] How could you possibly enjoy a film like that?
Steve: Oh, because it's got naked women in it! Look, I like naked women! I'm a bloke! I'm supposed to like them! We're born like that. We like naked women as soon as we're pulled out of one. Halfway down the birth canal we're already enjoying the view. Look, it's the four pillars of the male heterosexual psyche. We like: naked women, stockings, lesbians, and Sean Connery best as James Bond. Because that is what being a bloke is. And if you don't like it, darling, join a film collective. I want to spend the rest of my life with the woman at the end of the table here. But that does not stop me wanting to see several thousand more naked bottoms before I die. Because that's what being a bloke is. When Man invented fire, he didn't say "Hey, let's cook!" He said: "Great! Now we can see naked bottoms in the dark!" As soon as Caxton invented the printing press we were using it to make pictures of - hey! - naked bottoms. We've turned the Internet into an enormous international database of... naked bottoms. So, you see, the story of male achievement through the ages, feeble though it may have been, has been the story of our struggle to get a better look at your bottoms. Frankly, girls, I'm not so sure how insulted you really ought to be.
Plus, Karen Gillian is kind of distracting

Ok, first of all . . . . YAY! DIllion got his own comic!
secondly, I'm inclined to think that the new neighbor is gay, and not just by his reaction.
I don't think a straight guy would wink when offered a full body massage from another guy
I'm hoping that menestration has nothing to do with his reaction
for one thing, I don't really like period humor used in that context. And for another thing, I wouldn't want a red herring thrown in this early in the game

Oops. Re-reading again, no, Amber and Jerzy don't seem to know each other before this strip. I wasn't looking at the first frame properly. Mea culpa. As you were.
Sorry.
Almost certainly not. Though we still have the small possibility that Jerzy is just a very self-assured straight guy who really enjoys taking the piss out of gay men who think that his looks must mean that he's gay - and who is now milking that gag for everything it's worth.Ophelianime wrote:secondly, I'm inclined to think that the new neighbor is gay, and not just by his reaction.

"Period humour" makes me think of chaps in spats and bowler hats saying "I say I say I say, my dog's got no nose". Then when I get over that, I'm left thinking it wouldn't be a herring that was red...Ophelianime wrote:I'm hoping that menestration has nothing to do with his reaction

Sorry.
Well, the nameless comic shop geeks seem to react heterosexually enough to DiDi and Zii. Though they're young, so maybe they'll grow out of it.Psyco Sonic wrote:So Gary really is the only straight man in this MA3verse huh?

technically, Eric is straight but comfortable "experimenting" with being with other guys.... and we got no references to see what orientation the nervous neighbor is and the co-worker of Gary is either bi or straight as he was jealous of the "perceived" notion that Gary was very successful with girls

Re: 21-01-13 It will be clear
True I wasn't thinking of background characters, then again I totally forgot about Jung, but he's not been seen in how long? And I think he may just be asexual background guy for now. But then again my powers of observation have never been the greatest. Eric I'm pretty sure would just be considered Bi, while he may not go after guys it has been proven he doesn't mind being with them like you said Wiseguy. Oh well, I just find it odd that straight men in this verse are a dying breed. But it's a sex farce so it's to be expected.

Re: 21-01-13 It will be clear
I think I once read that of the "straight guys".............. at least 80% would do it with another guy IF we talking they getting drunk or/and if it is part of a 3some with a super hot girl, and that is without including willingness to play with someone else's penis when we add transsexuals that are gorgeous (like Senna) or being talked into having a girl use a strap-on on them(like Sonya tried, and Sandra did on Matt)

Re: 21-01-13 It will be clear
Well, if we really, really want to get technical, a lot of men are actually more willing to engage in mutual masturbation or even perform a blow job on another man just so long as there isn't any anal. I think most men are more attracted to other men than they are allowed by society to admit to. According to some of the research I've read, only about a fifth of society is locked into their specific sexuality with the remaining four fifths being bisexual to some degree or fluid-sexual (that is they shift back and forth). Unfortunately, our society not only pushes heterosexuality, but punishes the idea that men can be attracted to men even a little.

Re: 21-01-13 It will be clear
Yeah okay, I'm gonna have to say you're inserting some personal bias here, Art.
Whenever people talk about the subject of sex and gender it always boils down to the most base and meaningless aspect of the human psyche. Body parts and who's fucking who. Such discussions always miss the greater failing of American (and indeed Western) culture: the fact that the majority of people cannot separate the ideas of love, sex, and intimacy or even realize that there is a difference. Sex is not love and love is not sex. The two things are related but neither is necessary for other to be present. Intimacy on the other hand goes hand in hand with love, but not with sex. The common misstatement about people who are having sex is that "they are intimate." Being intimate with someone just means you have strong personal bond of familiarity, closeness, and affection with them. Brothers and sisters are intimate, parents and children are intimate, animals and their owners are intimate, but no one except the most perverted of minds would suggest that they are having sex with each other.
The problem with the version of heterosexuality that is promoted in America specifically is that it allows men (I can't speak for women) to be sexual and even loving, but not intimate. Through whatever warped silliness that has infected this nation, two men who share a strong emotional tie with one another are simply assumed without evidence to "has the gay" if they express any type of natural affection for one another. As such, men are forced to either suppress those feelings or find more "manly" ways to express themselves lest they be openly ridiculed. Usually this takes the form of punching each other or flinging harmless insults back and forth for some men, but in most cases suppression is what is chosen, usually for years.
What you wind up with then is men who have a very human need to be affectionate but are denied that need because they live in a emotionally retarded society that hasn't pulled its head out of its collective ass long enough to realize that intimacy and sex are only tangentially related. The resulting confusion is men who think that wanting to be close to another man equals "I want to put my penis in them" or "I want them to put their penis in me" when the reality is that all they want is intimacy.
It is not a matter of being physically attracted to men, it is a matter of wanting intimacy with other men and being surrounded by the emotionally stupid. In African countries, men can be found publicly holding hands, sitting on each others laps, and even giving one another affectionate kisses and no one bats an eyelash or levels accusations of "wanting teh homosex."

Re: 21-01-13 It will be clear
Thinking about this strip for a bit, I have a observation and a question:
Have we ever seen Amber's bare ass before? I remember they skipped over her spanking by Dillon in Ma3 and she's in side profile last strip. The reaction that seems fairly obvious might not be.

Actually, I wasn't inserting my personal biases. I was simplifying.
I know all of the information you mentioned. I've been studying all of it for the last several years- including the psychological theories. On a biological level, only about twenty percent (ten on each side) are fixed in sexuality while the rest are somewhat bisexual or fluid with a small percentage being asexual. Homosexuality as a concept is only about 150 years old. In Hellenistic Greece, for instance, intimacy between men and women was frowned upon though marriage was considered a necessity. Men had sexual relationships with other men constantly, and women with other women. The Celtic cultures, however, like many Native American cultures, had same-sex marriage, though the Native Americans did not practice same-gender marriage.
I just didn't want to sit here and write a tome.

Yes we have. Anyhow, we can assert for an in-universe fact that Gary, Dillon, and thousands of porn watchers are adequately acquainted with it. I don't think that there is any way it can be other than fine.GCRust wrote:Have we ever seen Amber's bare ass before?

Fair enough, I just had to pipe up because your post prior sounded way too simplistic, and you have always struck me as far more intelligent than that post was suggesting.Artemisia wrote:Actually, I wasn't inserting my personal biases. I was simplifying.
