I fail to see how this is inconsistent with Ruby's characterization so far. Her reaction is wholly consistent with a typical (probably) high INT, mediocre WIS, low CHA character: She knows she's getting pressured into something she doesn't want (and can make her dislikes very clear when there's only indirect pressure), but she can't stand up to direct pressure (opposed CHA checks).

She isn't a D&D character.

Well, very few people are, actually. But if you want to put it in those terms, she's clearly built under a points-build system. The GM let her player get a lot of points for Bad Temper and a Phobia or two, and then she insisted on roleplaying those in the first session, and the GM realised that this was likely to derail his railroaded comedy plot, and started telling the player what to do in later sessions.

Telling the player that female characters have to think kittens are cute was just tacky, though.

Yep. Called it. Going for comedy rather than character consistency. The Ruby we saw a day and a half ago, comics time, would have thrown a screaming fit at this conversation and probably said something unfortunate to both Amber and Dillon.

Instead we get a back-pedal on her characterisation, and Ruby being bounced into something that's not her style so Dillon can continue being a "cute" jerkass. Those of us who liked the soap opera in those early strips (or who'd like to see Dillon getting punched in the face) can just go dangle. Ruby gets to be Gary 2.0.

Also, we note that Amber is back to letting Dillon block her from Gary. After all her effort, too. Oh well, perhaps Chanelle won't feel so constrained, next time the chance arises...

Oh I'm sorry - was I not allowed to agree with someone on the forum ? Dillon's an annoying jerk - I guess that's his character. Nothing wrong with expressing an opinion - can always rely on the usual white knights to leap to writers defence anyway.
