Unlikely. Remember, Ruby suffered her big trauma six or eight years ago, and she hasn't got over it yet - but in that time, she refrained from giving away Amber's secret, graduated from school, got into university, and came out with a degree. And the last thing we saw of her the night before this scene was her telling herself "I won't let this bother me. I'm stronger than that."
Ruby finds a stupid amount of stuff scary or confusing. She's naive as all hell. But on the plus side, it seems, she hangs in there. She's determined, or obstinate, or bloody-minded, take your pick. She's getting tied up in knots, but I don't think she's going to snap any time soon.

It might be more innocent than that. If this professor could convince her that wearing a short skirt was good business attire because Ruby is naive enough to believe it why not go one step further and tell her that thongs improve posture or something like that. It would be a step up from the granny panties she wears now.
