It could also at least partly be that Ruby realizes twin beds cost a lot less than apartments, especially in a big city like Montreal. Sure she could save up to move out, but meanwhile she'd have to share a bed with her snoring wild-sleeping sister (while trying not to think about what ELSE she may have done in that bed).
