If I may ask, DnE, is there a way to modify your recipe to be... well, not spicy at all? I can’t stand the burning sensation I get from eating spicy food... I wouldn’t come within three feet of anything containing habañero, let alone eat it.

You’re such a wonderful chef that I have to wonder if there’s a more mild alternative you could think of.

Thanks, Myth! :ymblushing: Sure, for a not-so-spicy alternative to my chili recipe try this...

• 15 oz. can of tomato sauce
• 6 oz. can of tomato paste
• 1/2 large onion, chopped
• 1/2 lb. of your favorite sort of meat (Ground beef, Steak, Chicken, Venison, you name it)
• 15 oz. can of dark red kidney beans
• 1 teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce (just for a bit of flavor)
• 1 tablespoon of course ground black pepper
• 1 tablespoon of minced garlic

It'll still have that chili flavor, without being burning hot like mine is. :D The base of most good chili is an equal amount of tomato sauce, onion, meat, and kidney beans. Hope this works out for you!

According to the Meriem-Webster Dictionary, 'chili' is the primary English term for the food. 'Chilli' and 'chile' are considered acceptable vairants as well.

Your chili is fantastic-looking DnE! However, the more I look at the food that has been made, the more I get the feeling that this is a bizarre contest... considering we can't taste the entries. :|

ah no no no, you misunderstood:P, i was replying to mythiene's post. Read "why would you make chilli if it's non spicy? chilli is supposed to be spicy!"

Ah... sorry about that, Fen. :ymblushing:

But not everyone has a taste for the ultra-spicy that I do, and I understand that. There are plenty of little steps you can take to mellow out chili - make chili mac and put the chili over maccaroni, eat it with plenty of buttered bread and milk, or (as a last step) add sugar to the chili itself. No, this doesn't end up with "sweet chili", it simply mellows out the heat of the chili without being able to taste the sugar. I simply prefer not to do this.

Still, thanks for the compliments! :D Also, I'll have everyone know that I stopped in three different stores looking for an apron, and no one had one. ;)

My grandmother made sweet chili. She actually used brown sugar, and added a fairly small amount. Enough to taste the sweetness, but not too much to be overpowering.

You know, unless she let me help. Then she’d just stand back and laugh while I dumped in the entire bag.

DnE, that looks AMAZING! :ymapplause: I agree with Myth though. I can't stomach anything too-too spicy, but I do adore chili. I like mine with mushrooms and green peppers... And topped with LOTSSS of cheese :x

P.S. CS... Your avatar... I LOVES IT! :D

You can if you follow the recipes given and make them yourself. :D

But you're right, it is a little weird.

That chili looks good. I love spicy food, but it doesn't love me the next day. b-(
