There's some symbolism floating around here, but dense as I am, I cannot figure it out.

Well I'd guess Lillian's pillar - straight, sterile, symmetrical, harmonious and dull in its self-contained perfection - is her own image of her life, her moods and minds and whatnot, and it growing into a sprawling, fertile, precariously leaning tree with many curling branches at the touch of the strangers is almost literally what she feels has happened since she met all these new people.

I wonder if she enjoys growing so much, or if she's worried she will break or topple. . .

this is definately one of the most beautiful webcomics i've been following. for all sorts of reasons.

There's definitely some significance to that tree. What it is, I have no clue. My guess is that Jenny Creed's speculation will turn out to be a fairly accurate guess.
