Considering he probably grew up with the idea of being the loyal vassal of Drac being the ultimate goal, makes sense. And if Drac can gather much power, it would be a good gig.

Moreover, I suspect that being Dracula's right hand has to come with a number of perks. He'd be a fool to give that kind of power up.
