But what I was saying was it wouldn't be a partial disguise, they could just fuse the rest of the skin together with the existing piece once they got it off of Marcy. If they can't then it is an odd limitation on a rather bizarre technology.

So basically, she's an unwitting pawn who honestly believes they are helping cryptids by helping them assimilate into human culture, so her contemporary role as PETM's leader is indeed legitimate in it's intentions, but the reptilians basically milked her ostensibly honorable intents for their own gain and have been using her as a pawn the whole time.

In troping terms, she's a genuine Well-Intentioned Extremist with a Lawful Stupid view on monster rights that the reptilians have been using for their own purposes, even if that means duping her into sacrificing herself if it would "help" them assimilate, not realizing all she was doing was aiding their invasion plans.

Again alot of these plot points would have made more sense if we didn't lose a book since this is technically book 5. Also considering that Marcy has robot legs it was bound to come up how she got them. Just did not expect this was the reason. Also Katie finally acknowledges that she is getting fed up with the random time warps and just wants to find her sister.

EDIT: also we still are unaware of her current status after the events of the Gorgan sister revenge plot for all we know after Katie and the others are done here she has some what recovered and started the PETM.

That Reptilian, Senator Warrington, was still in charge of PETM when the VC were captured. He was the one who sold the cheerleaders to the Gorgons in exchange for a Simon&Garfunkel alien to eat. So Marcy's life was saved by Katie, Suki and Leonard, got robot legs, and kept working for Senator Warrington and for the Reptilians as public face of PETM.

My predictions about Marcy keep being confirmed....

When the people you are working with horribly kill humans to use their skins as disguise and capture sentient beings to use them as food, and you keep working for them, you are not merely gullible. There is some point at which person can't be called gullible anymore, but insane. Criminally insane, in Marcy's case.
