You seem to have quite an odd definition of the Word "heretic". Heresy is something that falls outside the accepted religious traditions. Unless this setting has some sort of commandment like "Thou shalt let vampires drink your blood, for they art awesome and can commit no sin", I highly doubt that staking vampires is considered all that controversial. In case you didn't notice, a lot of the vampire hunters in fiction are depicted as pious people, or even priests in some cases.

Again, we have no idea what happened between "Lori becomes a vampire" and "Vampire hunters stake Emma". We don't know if the vampires killed people and we don't know how the fire started. Until that point, it is pretty baseless to yell "The hunters are evil heretics!".
He's murdering in God's name, ignoring Christ's message and breaking one of the ten commandments (you do remember the one forbidding murder don't you?) in one fell swoop, what could be more heretical than that? And let's not forget Lori's reaction to holy symbols.

The heretical mob of homicidal, pyrocidal maniacs are horrible criminals intent on committing horrible crimes, nothing Lori's done or might have done can change that. You can invent lists of crimes for Lori to your hearts content, but it won't change what the psyhcos have done in plain view. Lori could have slain dozens and they'd still belong in the chokey. Oh and the flames drove Lori and poor Emma into the waiting arms of the mob, who've yet to be inconvenienced by the flames...

As a matter of fact, that's pretty much standard behaviour for all of christian denominations. If that guy is an heretic, every Christian up to the XVII century was an heretic, which would mean that all Churches were founded by heretics and hence, they are heretic organizations.
